Any ice racers on here? looking to get an edge.

what is your setup? tires? stud patterns.

i just bought some tires with cold cutters in them. looking to see how they should be set up. I plan on lowering the front a couple inches. i think my rear is really low right now. I have all the mods in my sig, plus +2 arms (coming) hopefully a +4 axle soon, and a esr intake.

You should check out White Lake in Milford. It's 30 min south of you. The last couple years Belzbub and I have worked flagging and setup. Pretty good races. Bikes, sidecars, minis, quads with all ages and classes.

I was supposed to go ice racing this season until i found out i might be better of saving some cash to replace piston and cylinder.... instead of blowing 500 on a full ice racing tire set up....

If the ice races are on a oval track and its one way turns.... put the studs on a little angle.... for the front if you got fully addjustable A-Arms play with the camber/caster... that should help in the curves depending on the track....

other than that.... if you can figure out the lenght of the track on the straights... gear your bike according.... so you dont top out too fast.... for curves... get a good idea of how sharp are the turns and practice on that to know which gears to be in... if you get that down... your more than good to go.

Bike set up and gearing would be a the big key to winning the rest would be up to the rider ofcourse

yep traction is a biggie. up here in canada we run the mf-44's they are gods gift to the ice racer, imo. i picked up a couple extra seconds just by running them. dont know if they are legal for ama racing though. power is another biggie if ur racing oval. i got a quite a few mods in mine and i still have a hard time to stay up front, not saying im winning but near the front none the less mhihi.gif

lol..... would take one hell of a mircacle to get infront of andrew fraiser! unless he bails or spins out.... eh rumlesj1....

If my bike wasnt able to run on that piston / cylinder id prob lend ya the cams for the race lol.... (540/539 grinds) prob would help out loads on there....

Now dont get any ideas though mhihi.gif

Yea get the proper traction and gearing and what not and the rest is you and how much your bike can put out

As far as tips go, about the same as TT.
For traction out of the corners, sit up more on the seat and lean back some.
Exiting a left corner lean right just enough to feel the outside bite
Exiting a right turn lean left until it starts biting.

And High rpm, High hp machines don't do good on ice.
My friend and I took a 4Zinger and beat the times of the 400 class.
That was several years ago though.
It hasn't gotten cold enough to ice race here the last 5 years.
