If you ride the dunes its really up to you if you want to get it.
Truthfully I wish I had one after last weekend of catching rocks into my chest

no i was referring to if you ride track, desert, trails, dunes, or alot of jumping, because if you jump alot and ride track and desert you will want one incase you case a jump and hit your bars, or if you get hit by another bike or get alot of rocks, im going to get one eventually but im ride mostly dunes so i probably will get one

Yah, so I just bought a 2003 suzuki z400 from a local dealer. It came with ITP rims all around that make it wider in the front. R/A shredder rear tires, stock front. The frame has been sent out to some racing company in CA and he had braces put all in the frame and thicker welds. It was sand blasted, powder coated, repainted, and clear coated. And it has the Trail Tech Speedometer computer unit which I like a lot. Everything else is stock. But what my real problem is when im riding it easy it likes to stall a lot. When I ride it hard it doesn't at all. It doesn't stall when idling but only when im like making a turn or slowing down when im downshifting and pull in the clutch. What do you think the problem is..because it gets very annoying having to restart all the time. All I can think of is maybe it had an exhaust on it before and the jets were re jetted. Air filter is stock and clean. My dealer says it because of the carb..its some vacuum kind or something. I don't much about the mechanics but enough 2 get me by. So if someone could help me out it would be appreciated
PS im not a new rider..been driving snowmobiles, dirtbikes, and 4wheeler since 3 yrs old..started out on kitty cat..so its not my riding style why i would be stalling

Make sure your choke is not on, and if it isn't, its probably a jetting problem.

Yes, it looks pretty good to me, its made out of metal, and I think it looks quite nice. What's wrong w/ it anyway?
MADANT15
May 16 2004, 07:28 PM
It also has side protection so that pieces of the chain don't go flying into your leg.
So, what is wrong w/ it?

I think the problem is that even though it is metal, it isn't very strong and will be destroyed by the chain right before the chain smashes into your case.

The stock case saver is about 1/16 of an inch thick. The chain could actually wedge behind the thing causing bigger problems.

A case saver protects your case from getting hit for when your chain breaks. The chain with put a hole right into it. It goes here. (mines not there because I had just put a 13tooth sprocket on and took a pick before I put it back on.

The stock case saver sucks so thats why he said to get one. here is where you can get one and it has a pic.

I would like to add some real nice rear tires. Which ones are best for the rocky conditions in the woods. I did some reading and 6 ply tires would be the best but which ones. I have 9 inch rear rims.

Hey skip, well to tell you the truth, i didn't buy my Z400 from alba, but i did take the time to equip my Z400 with all the Alba acessories, and I am very happy with the results, all my friends are jealous of the Team Alba Race pipe, its super loud! haha, i just wanted to tell you that it would be a great idea...and probably better in the long run, if i ever buy another quad it would be from Alba Action Sports.

I have been think about switching to z400 plastic but I think DVXs look alot better!!!!

I am looking at getting an aftermarket exhaust, what do you guys reccommend? Also what other mods and what brand of case saver do you reccommend? I put on a pro armor full frame skid plate and swing arm plate.
