I have a problem. I can not seem to align my burgard standard +2 a-arms correctly. I have a houser steering stem and ALLS BALLS product tie rod ends. My toe in is about 1.5 inches. This is with the tie rod ends all the way in and the bottom ball joints out on the a-arms about 5 turns..(they are supposed to be all the way in from what I have heard...and yes my handlebars are completely straight). My tie rods are 14.25 inches long which is the correct size. I am not sure what to do. I have made a web site with pictures so you guys can tell me what you think. Did I get sent the wrong arms?? Please help me out. Its driving me crazy. I have heard people talking about toe in being about .25 inches. I am about 1.25 inches off. This seems a lot to me. Please click the link to see the pics…

I can not give you a positive answer but do you know off hand if were the tie rod ends mount on the steering stem, are they the same distance as the stock, as in being the same distance from center?
Have you talked to Izzy at Burgards yet? He may be able to get you some that are a bit shorter than standard.
Evdawg
Well...thats what I was thinking. Since I do have a different steering stem....that may have something to do with it. Now they do look like +2 arms though right? I couldnt imagine +2 arms being any wider. I just want to get this taken care of soon so when my few more parts come in I dont have to wait any longer. Any more opinions....??

did u try adjusting the shocks? I dont think it could be the stem AT all.. just try adjusting your toe in.. It gonna be different on each side. make sure you put your tie rods on correct.. the same thing happend to me sorta.. When the ZPS would be lifted my EX would look exactly like yours but WORSE!

just make sure your Tierod is put on correctly

Example : by the hub on my ex the tierod end is suppost to go under the hub not ontop.. I put it on top and it did something like yours when the ZPS was lifted.. I fixed it and its now much better. I have the same set up as you to.. Except no houser stem.. Its defiantly not the stem.. but im not 100%... give burgard a call!
Evdawg
Did you look at the pictures????? :disgust The tie rods are on correctly. I can not adjust my toe in anymore.....except if I want more toe in......
Newjacksm
i saw the pictures... the only thing I can say is maybe your tierods are on wrong.... its most likely the way you have your tierods on .. happend with me .. plus i cant see the way u put ur tierods on the hub.... from the pic
Evdawg
There are like 4 pictures of the spindle with the tie rods on.
Newjacksm
ok I didnt see that :-d i only saw the first pic... Well.. I think its most likely the tierod.. if not myabe your hubs are on backwards.. theres defiantly something wrong that you put on because it wouldnt be doing that.. same w00ter happend to me
Evdawg
Honestly dude....I know your trying to help but how could my "Hubs"....(they are called spindles).... be on backwards. You put the damn tierod ends in the wrong way. That is why YOU had problems. If you look you can see that everything looks installed correctly. I think I may need shorter tie rods. I just want an opinion from zracer from the pics I posted....

bump
Evdawg
Correctly me if Im wrong...I just got off the phone with Houser racing. Now, they lower the connecting point of the tie rod ends on the steering stem (to reduce bump steer). Which means that if you think about the tie rod setup and a right triangle and the tie rod itself being the hypotenuse...as you lower the height of the triangle (this is done by lower the height of the connecting points on the stem)....you increase the base of it (the distance from the spindle to the frame of the quad). I think this is why I need to cut my tie rods down. I probably confused you guys....
DadsZ400
Makes sense to me.
Evdawg
Anyone know what I should cut chrome tie rods with?
ZRacer
don't cut your tie-rods, give Burgard a call and he will try to help you.
