My winter race season starts up Sunday. Race is in White Plains, Kentucky. Gonna stay in the C class this year. Only secound year running and made less than half the events last year. Stayed in the top half of 30+ riders last year. Hoping to stay in the top 5 all year and make a good showing in the end of season points. Because of the large numbers they have divided the C class into 4 divisions instead of 2 from last year. This should greatly reduce the jams caused by the really slow folks straight out of the begineer ranks. Also spread the field out some more making passing a little bit easier.
Hoping the added power fromt thr DRZ kit will aid me in the holeshot. Usually 5th into the first turn last year. Three modded 450's and one heavly modded 400ex always beat me there.
In a wedding today so going to have to skip out on the party a little early tonight.

Good luck. Where can I find the schedule of the Mid-south winter series hare scrambles at?

Look at www.msws.org

Had a very good race though I made myself work alot harder than needed.

Got a good start off the line and went into the woods 3rd. Not 300 yards in I clipped a tree and went to dead last (17th). So then the work began. Put my head down and pushed the entire first lap and found myself in 7th at the checkpoint. Backed down to a comfortable pace at the start of the second lap (knew there were twenty miles to go). At the seven mile mark I took off again and found myself in 4th at the checkpoint. Stayed at till the eight mile mark and then fatigue set in. Backed off and rolled into the finish in 2nd. The leader beat me in by a minute so wouldn't have caught him anyway.

Next race is in two weeks at 143 Off-Road Park in Tennesse (not 10 miles from Larette Lynns). So now have 11 days work on conditioning. Want that first race win, but must stay in the top 5 finishers.

Figured I'd give an update.

Round 2: Rather not talk much about this one. Hit the first turn in second right outside the leader. Then the field used us to slow down for the turn. Pushed us right off the course into the downed trees and both of us went stright over the bars. Never got better. Finished 12th. Major dust fest. At times two feet of visibility.

Roud 3: Made the trip to New Hope, Alabama. Had a much better weekend. Pulled my first holeshot. Grapped third, looked around and had over a bike length on everyone. By the end of the field section heading into the woods had eight. They pulled me back in as started catching riders from other classes. Led most of the first lap then made a mistake trying get around someone and fell to second. Went through the checkpoint there with my best friend three secounds behind me. Ran the second lap passing people and never getting passed once. Yet came through the tent third at the end of lap two. wtf.gif So started hauling (was a bit p'd off). Not a mile in caught my best friend. Spent the next four or five miles pushing each other. Then two riders got inbetween us who where racing for positions themselves. As he just disappeared into the distance I got impatient. That's when it happened. Tried to force a pass, clipped a stump then hit a tree. Poor tie-rod couldn't take it. At full left lock the right wheel pointed straight ahead. Limped in to finish tenth. Not the result wanted, but alot of fun.
Talking about throwing the points out for this race as there was a lot of course cutting. Some intentional. Some not.(best friend) The course could've used alot more arrows. Also very dusty.(Not as bad al last race) It was very easy miss a turn. Was not a checkpoint in the woods so it was free game. What best describes is this: a begineer was the first person in on lap one. Beat all of the pros.

Round 3: November 13th Iuka, Mississippi
Talk of cancelling this race if no rain by then. Everyone (promotors also) are just tired of the dust.
