I just got my 05' Z like a month ago and I already am in love with riding wheelies. Unfortunately I was doing a slow wheelie with my foot on the grab bar, and I hit the ground and somehow it made me sprain my ankle. so this sucks cant ride for a couple weeks, i might go crazy, just reminding everyone to be careful! cuz injuries freakin suck

i have crashed more times then i can count wheeling, but u know what they say practise makes perfect. I have gone through 3 grab bars between my 04 kfx and 05 z . But i would have to say my worst crash was last summer on the kfx. I was in 5th doin around 90kph and i went to far back and the grab bar hit the pave ment ( i was on the highway ) but any who i slammed the back brake biggest mistake. It threw the bike down to hard and it cart wheeled down the highway and threw me about 30 feet. My friend with me thought i was dead lol but i was just unconstious and chipped my elbow. My bike didnt far so well bent sub frame, bent frame, bent rim, bent tie rod, scratched plastics. But i was back at her cuase i love them. I hope ur crash hasnt discouraged u at all. My record so far is 4.9km clocked by my buddy in his truck, i can also go around bends granted they are not over sharp.

Thats the only way how to learn how to do it right.

I watched one of my boys eat sand in like a 3rd gear wheelie across a sand flat. Then his bike didnt die and it coasted like 100 yards and hit sum woods. Funny for me but he was a lil soar.

i was doing a fast like 3rd gear fly by wheely and that son bit(h caught the grab bar on somethin in the ground and the bike pretty much stopped so i went into the handle bars and then forced myself over the handle bars very freaky crash i think i blinked and i was bouncing across a trail scared to do them in trails now for for of getting fling like a rag doll again

Yea wheelies are the greatest, I have a street bike to which I used to love riding wheelies on until some guy was watching me do one and accidentally swerved in front of me while i was doing the wheelie, Luckily I didnt get hurt at all, the bike just had some plastic damage. So thats why I love doing them on my quad, I am just pissed cause the weather is nice now, and cant wait to get back out there, and no I wont stop doing wheelies ever! im from jersey if any of you guys ever wanna meet and ride,

I just got my Z running again after a major resurection(lots a mods)
At the time it had only been goin for a week.
me n my buddies were runnin around on the frozen lake, and we started messin around.
I put er up in a wheelie w my brake foot in the grab bar, and started goin through the gears. Went about a half mile across the lake in 5th and lost it backwards!
The dumb part is I tried to ride it out, dont do that.
It was fine till it turned a little, and BAM! Down on the left side HARD!
Trashed a stock rim
I was slidin right next to it, so i got to watch by new bars bend too wile we slid for about 100 yards.

Ive never seen a rim bent that bad before!
The worst part is I had just bought that rim. Only used it a couple times

a couple weeks ago i was ridin my feet over the handle bars in third goin up hill. Some girls were near by so I had to look over a wink at them and right as i did i hit a rut. It sent me down the side of my z with it spinning around like a top. I got 2 cracked ribs it sucked but the best part was all the girls worrying over me. I have it on Camera and am trying to get it on here.

I love riding wheelies like you guys. I ride em with my brake foot on my grab bar ( not the best thing to do cause your kinda screwed when something goes wrong, but I still do it) So I pop em up in second and usually click to third just trying to keep it way up high. ( I can usually grab my front bumper for a while) So i've hit my grab bar probably 30 times or so, and it don't bother me at all I just pull in the clutch and cost it to a stop.
But I've had wrecks......
I was going through this field riding one in 3rd with the foot back when I started drifting to the right and got in a rough section and flipped it. ( Nothing hurt, but maybe a lil bit bent bars.)
Another time I was going down my driveway and started drifting, and I saw it coming but couldn't do nothing, and I nailed a tree with my right front tire. ( Nothing hurt here either)

I don't like putting my foot on the grab-bar. I just stand on the pegs, lean back, and yank up on the handlebars. I think I can get going pretty far.... One of our fields down the road (i'm not suppose to ride through it... but o well), I usually go all the way acrossed it.... but the quad goes to the left quite a bit....

If I do wreck doing a wheelie, I usually just slide off the back (and it hurts a little....) and my grab bar will dig a small trench behind the quad....

Before I got my new tires.... I would do really long donuts on my stock bald ones, and the tires would suddenly get traction... all of a sudden you are spinning around, and your front wheels come up.... so you end up rotating on one rear wheel (usually the back right one...), and flip it over, and bend the stock bars....again... and again.... and again....

I can ride a wheelie on a unicycle.

How is that even possible Haha

Unfortunately...I suck at wheelies and can only do them for about 500 feet...then again I don't like doing them in front of a million people cause then I think I'm being a show-off so when I go to the track tomorrow I'll see if I cant hold one for a while...I'm terrible at the technique of it though...I just stand on the pegs and hold on for dear life haha, then hope I dont slip off and hit my back tire (nerfs have been gone for a month now...gettin back this week though )

I've never wrecked and I've never rode a wheelie...wouldn't know what either are like.

I rolled my 05 kfx, just went back too far and put it on the grab bar and hit a bump and rolled it over. This one guy I ride with does some insane wheelies, his name is LURKEN.

Nope I haven't wrecked riding a wheelie yet because I just figure out how to get them up when I was at Little Sahara, OK. I was going to pratice why I was there but my battery box broke so I couldn't ride anymore!!!!

I have never wrecked while riding a wheelie and I ride them all the time, slow first gear wheelies, third gear pinned, standing on the grab bar, sitting down, no footers, I've done them all. For those of you that have trouble with the ground pulling your foot off the grab bar when it hits try fabbing up a 12:00 bar. I like it because it keeps my foot up out of harms way when I stand it up. The 12:00 bar can even dig up a nice size divit and never pull your foot off the grab bar. I even like to drag mine on purpose on the concrete or pavement(puts out nice sparks).

Don't think i will crash the Z got the brake control on lock.... coasters are so much fun on these things

About a month ago I fell off my quad doing a wheelie in second. I did a power wheelie from first going to second and must have had too much throttle and been leaning back too far. The quad didnt flip over because I've got a custom welded grab bar made of steel that extends out pretty far. Man my butt was hurting for a long time I had to go chase after the quad once I fell off because it was going down a hill and was about to run into the neibors mailbox

ridin a 4th gear wheelie, goin for distance.. one foot on grab bar. wind cought the quad and pushed it up, grab bar bounced off of road and my foot came out, ripped me off quad and i bit the pavement at about 40.. 21 stitches, concussion, swollen shut eye, multiple cuts/bruises.. half dollar sized peices of skin ripped off palms..

You werent wearing a helmet were you????

If you're going to do wheelies on the pavement at 40mph you got to wear a helment. I know some you younger guys think wearing a helment makes you look like a wuss but the truth is not wearing a helment makes you look like a stupid freaking idiot. I'm not trying to single you out, I'm talking to everyone that thinks they are too cool to wear a helment.

I was ridin on back with Rob & we was poppin some wheelies on his KFX & we were in 3rd gear and we hit something and lost i tand i was skinned from my right a*s check up my back..lol...i dont kno how i got it on my a*s but i did and it hurt it felt like a rug burn but 100 times worse but i was fine!!...lol...here is a pic of us but thats not when we wrecked!!

yeah, i woulda grabbed the rear brake, had my right foot not been in the grab bar, lol. no, i wasnt wearing a helmet.. and yes, i know.. im a dumbassss

I figured out that when I try to ride wheelies for a distance I automaticaly put my foot on the rear brake so I dont do very far but I quess I will just have to keep practicing my next dune trip(St. Anthony's)!!!

i can ride power wheelies all the way thru 4th gear, i dont put my foot back tho cause thats too easy!

On my old kx250f I could ride wheelies 5th gear wfo down the road. it was sweet

Was ridin a wheelie in 2nd gear right, quad started to walk to the left of the trail. Ya know how in some places where tree roots hang out of the top of trail birms and such. It looks like a lip hanging out there, my left tire hooked on one...spun the quad around and shot my azzzz of like a rock in a sling shot. I bounced off the trail and it knocked the wind outa me worse than ever. Was standin in the trail thinkin I was gonna die right there cause I couldn't breath. Funny now that im lookin back but holy crap, that sucked. It was a month ago and my ribs still hurt every time I sit up or twist.

ive been through about 10 lights and 3 grab bars but i finally got smart and fabbed a custom light that sits farther back and uses a 3$ truck light instead of the expensive arse stockers

haha yeahhh im learnin how to balance them out for awhile, i've never been really hurt before i've just flipped it backwards before and fell off thats about it

i recently have not been hurt too bad... but as my previous post states I have had some good crashes. The best way to learn a wheelie is in 2nd or 3rd cruisin and just hammer it till she comes up. The Z has an amazing balance point and when u find it ur laughin. As u progress in to 4th or 5th gear wheelies I find if u bounce the suspention and pull at the right time it comes up no prob, from there u hit the balance point and ur good to go. Once u have mastered this u can practise ridding them for long distances, or goin around slight corners. Currently i have wheelied for 4.2km without settin it down. I can also go around slight bends and pass cars by leaning my weight. I will try to get this on video soon and post it.

Hmm...I wouldn't pass cars man, if you don't crash and hit hard, you will probably get busted. There's not too many people that like to get passed by an ATV, let alone one doing a wheelie endangering their vehicle...but it's your call, be careful though..

man , i ride Wheelies day and nights , and i hadn't fall at all "except in sand" , i used to ride Wheelies on roads at 5th gear , last time i was riding at 5th and give it little more gas and it ended up me slipping the whole road and hurting my both hands , both arms , both legs .... don't ask me about the bike becoz it just stopped in the side of the way without any single scratch

tip if u wanna practice wheelies do it in the dunes u wont (The definition of cursing is when “A feeble mind tries to express itself forcefully.” Human beings do not have feeble minds. Every time somebody curses, they are stunting their own mental development.) up ur quad and u dont get hurt but u do get sand in ur shorts

bout a month ago doin a switch back grab bar hit ground and it rip my foot off fell off my bike fell back and smacked my head on the ground got a concussion head aches for like a week

I know that this is an old topic but I finally fliped over backwards riding a wheelie!!! It happened at sandfest in Little Saraha, Ok. I didnt get hurt because I was only in 1st gear and the bad thing was I had keep that wheelie up for a small amount of time( first time I actually rode a wheelie) and then went over backwards!!!

I HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS!!! I rode a long wheelie the longest i probley ever rode and then i was gunna stop but i sliped lol (left foot was on the grab bar) but it didnt hurt tho.. but i sure had to run to get my quad back.. ran after it for about 5mins.. lol idle was turned up to high

I actually wrecked right after i put my big gun exhaust on, it went out further than my grab bar. well i scraped the rear and i couldnt get the front end down with the break well the tip of my big gun exhaust was hitting but my grab bar wasnt, sparks were flyin everwhere than my quad started flipping, boy did that hurt, i got road rash :/

yea i dont know if this is a crash but i was ridin a wheelie in 4th gear(w/ my foot on the grab bar)
then all of the sudden i was verticle dragging both feet on the ground holdin on to my handle bars
and i did all of this while goin about 50.
but that was the best wheelie i ever did!

i never got hurt but now im afraid of doin wheelis becuase i just install my HMF and i dont wont to bend it

I need to find a durable grab bar a strong one so i wont be afriad of wheeling cause it scrapes my pipe

i have a HMF sport series and if u get up on the grabbar it wont hit the ground.
you have a few inches to spare.
