My cousin has a stock 04Z400 and I have a Stock 05 KFX400. His 04 seems to have more power than my 05. He out runs me just by a bit, and when I get on his I out run him the same. Why is his faster than mine?

it really should be the other way around. the 05 got a cam and carb upgrade that hurt the low end but let it run a little stronger on the top.

Did you guys switch riders???? That could be it. Rider ablity or weight could change the outcome!!!

No two of the same are identical. Castings, machining tolerances, break-in, gas, oils, wear and the list goes on.

are you sure your cousins z is completely stock, because the 05 as said before, has better cams and carb, you should beat him by a little

he out runs you because your quad has a 13th front sprocket

better acceleration ;loss of top end<---13th frt sprocket

sounds like you could go for some motorwork right now and dont let him no about it
