Slapped them on yesterday and headed out to ride. I had really high expectations for these tires and have to admit I was bit disappointed.

Pretty much useless in the sand. They throw up a mean roost but doesn't really get you going. Then again, I'm a little used to my paddles.

On trails however, they were very good. Good traction when I got on the throttle, allowed me to slide when I wanted to.

These tires are very heavy and I feel they held my engine back a little bit in the high revs.

My overall review

In Sand: 2 out of 5 stars
On Trails: 4 of 5 stars

wait till they wear down a little...youll really hate them then!

Those tires look like they have a little too much pressure in them. I can tell because they are rounded on the top and not flat. I keep my pressures at 4psi. Maybe if you let some of that air out, they might be better in the dunes. I always thought you were supposed to use paddles in the sand though. nono.gif I love my HD s and will use mine till something better comes out.
Deviousfred
Well, I was running them at 5 psi which is usually 1 psi more than what I usually run.

I have HD's and love them. I might go with I Razars or ITP GNCC tires next just for something new.

Hmm, that's wierd, I always imagined them being better in loose dirt/sand then other non-paddle tires just because of that pattern design. You would think horizontal lines like that would work great in sand...But, they're not made for loose stuff so it probably works as good as it's supposed to.

My observation's of these tires.

MUD: Very good. Keep them turning. Will dig you out.
LOOSE DIRT: Comparable to other brands. Once outside edge rolls form wear. Side bite in cornering gets sketchy.
HARD PACK: Suffers greatly from the hard compound.

Best aspect of this tire is the wear. Will get alot of use out of.

Now that's a tire I wouldn't mind going w/ when my Razr 2'a wear out....if they ever do.

I have HD's also as you can see in my sig, they are holding up very well i was suprised not alot of wear. They are good in the mud and ruff stuff but i dont think they are that great for real fast trail riding grip alittle to much in the corners. After those i am also goin to get the Gncc's look good and i think will fit my needs very well

Well thats a big problem right there, you definitely don't want to be running 5psi in the sand (and especially with dirt tires!).

well bub if your riding in the dunes then you need to stick to a paddle tire. The best all around tire is the razr and if your into trail riding you need the razr 2 for muddy conditions. i dont believe there is any tire that is set up for trails and sand so your not going to have a very good outcome. But maxxis razr's are the best tires made in my opinion and many others.
