I just installed 21" Mud Shark tires on my '06, and here is what I found during my first ride:
1. They are great in the mud, loose terrain, and rocky areas. These tires really bite into sand banks, and hills that the stock tires used to just spin out on I can now climb. The increased traction and the small amount of ground clearance I gained was great. I know 1/2" doesn't sound like a lot, but it is. The lugs on these babies are awesome for mud holes, too, so the name is quite appropriate.
2. These are not phenomenal trail tires. If you are riding smooth trail, they vibrate at lower speeds and are difficult to roost around corners. The increased bite cuts down on the corner slides, so if you are looking for a general trail tire, look elsewhere.
3. They are noisy. Not that most people care, but some will.
4. Because the are 21" and I didn't change my stock gearing, I lost a little bottom end. Not a problem for me, but the holeshots you can pull on your buddy's 400EX won't be happening anymore.
Overall, I am pleased with the tires because they do just what I was looking for; increased mud and sand traction. If you like to ride in the rough stuff and need a fairly aggressive tire that bites well into mud, sand, and rocks, this may be the way you want to go. If you are looking for an all-around trail tire, look elsewhere.
