i know to pull and blip the throtel but like how do people stay in one gear and ride it out so long i know that ur sopose to press the brake and the throtle at the same time.

to ride a wheelie as long as u want u first have to lean back. then you need to combine the throttle, the rear brake, and cluth. For example if the bike goes way back, hit the rear brake. if the bike goes down hit throttle..but you must combine those three things(throttle, rear brake, and clutch)

What I do, is pull in the clutch in 2nd or 3rd, get the revvs up a bit (not hitting the limiter or anything) and just let off quick while still on the throttle. You will feel the bike lifting, then let off a bit when it's almost at the balance point. If you gave it too much pop or gas, just tap the back brake as hard as you need to, so you don't flip but not too hard that you put the bike back down.

It just takes practice.. once you get it up and find the balance point, then concentrate on remembering to tap the brake when your going too far. For some it's just overwelming to be in a wheelie, and don't remember to hit the back brakes.

Like I said... practice. Seat time is what makes you good at wheelies, you will realise how easily you self-teach yourself the techniques just by seat time.

I dunno about dropping the clutch...Your bike will have enough power to pull up in 2nd gear...Which is the best gear to learn in...1st has to too much low end tourque and 3rd is too fast.

Sit with your butt as far back as comfortable while moving slowly forward in second, give the throttle a quick push in and feel it out as your bike comes up. Remeber to keep your rear brake covered and if you are feeling as though you will tip to far back give it a tap and bring yourself back down.

It's important to not that if you go all the way back, as long as you keep your self centered you will likely only bend or scrape your grab bar and wear out your pants...Unless your going real fast then your likely to do more damage

Now as you practice bringing your quad back what you are looking for is the "Ballance Point". This is where it feels like you might tip right back but won't at this point you almost don't need the throttle. The "Ballance Point" is not easy to find, it will take you a while to find but don't give up.

It is possible to wheelie without finding the ballance point however you will only keep the quad up by incresing speed making it impossible to go for long distances.

Also a quick not try and practice on sand or grass...Rough ground and pavement aren't friendly

I drop the clutch because it lifts the front instantly, within a couple feet rather than the 10-15 feet it takes for the front to climb. Leaves a bit more gear left to try to ride it out. If you don't give it enough in the gear 2nd will run out fairly quickly if you don't find the balance in time.

thx alot guys ill pratice some more i ride wheeles in second i just cant go that far i can go up in 1st and 2 i just want to learn the slow ones. by finding the balance point. ill try geting a vid of me doing wheeleies soon.

Depends if u want to do fast ones or slow ones. I like doin 5 gear wheelies and with them i just bounce my shock and pull like u have never pulled before ( that with the stock motor) and go up till u find the balance point. From there on in its all in the practise.

My best advise for slow wheelies is not to be afriad of falling off and hurting yourself. The bike won't fall back on you and you won't break nothing, lol. Those were my biggest hurtles. I find it's least scary to put one knee on the seat (left) and put the right foot on the rear brake in 1st, and just blip it up. If it goes too far and you forget to hit the rear brake, it will only scrape and you can walk off the back no prob.

good advice everyone i like doin them in first beacuse i dont have to pull i just sit there and enjoy in second i get my rpm's up a little more then pull back hard and hit the throttle i dont balance for a long time in second though i can do them for awhile in first on a good day (i only had a slip on when i did all this) i just got all the stuff in my sig put on i'll tell you how it goes

My experiences with an eddy carb on a 440ex was that it didn't like to be up on two very much. Then again we had no idea how to dial it in.

with my 13t sprocket i can just give the throttle in 3rd and even 4th gear and hold the front end up. but mostly im into doin slower wheelies. pretty much what you gotta do is find that balance point and know when to hit the gas and when to hit the brake. dont be affraid to go too far. (hence, grab bar/wheelie bar) just takes time. and keep on doin it. and if ur not experienced at it then i suggest not doing it on the road/driveway... ive seen alot of the guys i stunt with bend the crap out of there bar that way. we taught my little cousin how to do them going up a hill. he actually learned in a week now hes doin highchairs and standups on flatland. i got some old pics when my quad was stock of me doin stupid stuff on my quad... ill post em in a bit

good luck!

soberagain150
every gear... :) only on the roads tho... gets a lil bumpy goin 40+ on dirt/corn feilds haha

so i can go from 1st to 2nd? I just lift up in 2nd and try to ride it..Its hard to wheelie for me cause i fell off so much.. lol my pipe would get scraped or id fall off it just creeps me out sumtimes

does tire's play a roll in wheelieing? J\w I know its a dumb question cause everytime i wheelie and give it more gas it feels like it will just spin and go down inless im just not doing it right

if you have good tires traction should not be a problem, my old tires was bald before a changed them , i had nor problems wheeling, for me the farther back i putt my butt on the seat and keeping my arms stiff makes it much easier
z400rida
well i been praticing and now i can get a high chair speicial k i can go and one foot on the grab bar in first and go to a sit down just started getting combos i can hist the grab bar but the problem is that i cant pull the clutch in its like my hand cant reach it so i said the screw the grab bar and now i can ride nice 1st gear wheelies . and i started trying costers. lol man i love riding wheeles my frend got a drz and has like no low end i took it down the street for 5 mins and then i said lets see wat this can do i poped the clutch in 2nd and off i went with a wheele lol its all throtel control and balance point. wooooo my hand hurs im going to bed. good night z400 it flickers the lights back at me :)
