I think that the phpBB software needs to be looked into. The central forums are the only place I've seen IPS used and they are the only sites to get spam.

It's a give and take situation. If we set it up where any new members have to have a certain number of posts in order to start a new topic, the spammers simply post the alotted amount of posts it takes to start a new topic real fast and then they start spam topics or they start polls to do it! Even if we do a verification email/mod approval, it's hard to tell who's a spammer and whose not. I definitely do not like phpbb, there are to many loopholes they get through and they seem to get hacked very easy. The best thing at the moment is anytime your see spam posts/topics, hit the "report post" button and it goes out to all the mods/admin and one of us will take care of it.

Lots of sites get spam. It happens, sadly. You can use the image verification forms, but they get through that. Heck, the spammers may even be REAL people.
