jtk
Little Sahara in Oklahoma
drnez
silver lake, michigan is probably closer.
cataway
silver lake is lame ,3 hours after you get there you've seen it all and your ready to go home .its only like 400 acres of sand . one might better go to Little Sahara in Oklahoma
N.J.C.
Little Sahara is around 1500 acres....well, 1450 to be exact. I tad bit bigger sand box than Silver Lake. Sometime this spring or summer the dunes in western KS are going to open. If they acquire all the land they want, it should be about twice the size of Little Sahara.

I made a post about it in another dune thread. I'm not sure which one it was but I'll look for it. The info I posted came from the LS forums on the LS website. The dunes are located just outside of Syracuse, KS. Darn near Colorado! It would be a long haul. It's past Garden City just miles from the Co. border. But might be worth the extra drive if it ends up twice the size of LS.

Here's the thread w/ the info on the Syracuse, KS dunes. There's also a link to the LS site forum which has more info on it.

Wow, I didnt realize that KS was so wide! LOL Ya, from here that would be a little farther like you said, but maybe worth it... Time will tell.

Yep, I live 10 miles from the KS/MO state line and Syracuse, KS is just miles from the CO state line. It would take 7 hrs. or more for me to get there. I bet it's almost 400 miles across the state!
