The throttle is kinda sluggish. Anything cheap to wake her up?

Full exhaust, air filter, jet the carb, and take the airbox lid off and it will feel like a brand new bike.

Any mods done already?
Open air box and jetting make a nice difference for cheap.

if i have enough time, I'm gonna throw the bsr 36 carb from my z400 on my gf's z250. pull the airbox lid and figure out some jetting. I'll make a post about it when I get it done.

i am interested in this also. my wife is ready for more power on hers but not quite ready for the z400 yet.
i was thinking about a full exhaust and jet kit with a hotcam and k&n set up.
but if there were some inexpensive mods i could do that would be cool too.

gerry, toss on the bsr 36 from your z! my gf just wants a new quad all together, so, I dont know if I'll get to the carb swap or not. I think the power from the 250 is ok for her, but the handling just sucks. have you rode the 250 on trails? its scary when you push it hard. theres no way she can keep up with me on that thing.

i sold my stocker. i have ridden it and i have alot of fun. but it is a workout. i can toss it around pretty easily. but then again i'm a 240 lb fat a$$. i put new tires on it razr rears and holeshot hd's on the front and it helped alot. gonna get her some spacers too. it is a gutless turd though. i can wheelie the thing for miles in third gear.
wanting to find a set of front shocks for it too. they seem to stiff even turned all the way down.
my wife could not hope to keep up but she does a good job keeping up the pace if she's leading. once the dust hits she slows way down. when she leads i can tuck up in behind her and stay close enough to miss the dust. she was a little leary of me riding so close at first now she has the confidence in herself and me to know i won't hit her if she stops or slows down.

thats funny, I do the same thing! I get a couple feet off her rear tires, a lot less dusty! I have fun on the 250 also. but it needs better handling, and shocks for sure! too bad a z400 rear shock wouldnt bolt up or something. I think the rear shock is the worst. It doesnt like whoops or anything. but, thats just my opinion. We also have the fronts turned all the way down on my gf's too.

Wow man I think just the opposite...I love my z250 in the woods and I'm awesome on it. I could beat modded z's and 450s at the races as long as there weren't too many straightaways. My first race ever was on my z250 it was bone stock and I got 16th out of 30 some.

I passed the 300ex at the end of that track and I passed the shee right there

is the rear shock adjustable? I really havent looked at it. the thing is a fricken pogo stick though

getting back on my 400 is like a caddy, a FAST caddy

I believe it is adjustable but I haven't messed with it at all. Before I had my z I was awesome on that little thing in the woods. I could beat anything around through the trees if I got the start on them at least.

the rear shock is not adjustable. maybe the spring only but it will make no difference. the thing is just not as adjustable as the 400. we have looked at it and it can't be tuned.
the good news is only $70 left to pay on it then we can start modding the he!! out of it. or trade it for a z400
