Just wondering how everyone does shifts while doing wheelies, are you smarter to use the clutch or just keep jammin it into the next year. I find when i pull in the clutch while in a wheelie to shift the front end tends to drop. Is it not hard on the tranny to shift with out using the clutch??

To be honest I didn't start using my clutch AT ALL when I rode until I started riding dirtbike 6 months ago then it grew on me so I just kind of picked it up and stuck with it. I've been riding for about 4 years, never used the clutch except reverse. So there's your answer to if it's bad. It is yes, but it'll last longer then people think..

For the wheelie, the clutch actually provides a smoother transition, so I would say learn that way, and it's safer for your quad.

pop the clutch (rev it up and let go of the clutch)

orrrr yank back and hit the gas lol

just be sure to practice on grass and not pavement.....pavement hurts i promise

well if your in the balance point you should be able to shift with the clutch without the front dropping much at all...

when i ride a wheelie, i never use my clutch to shift through the gears. i just let off the gas a little, grab the next gear, and give it some more gas. its alot easier for me especially when im not at the balencing point and i need to shift.

I never use the clutch for up shifting at any time.I only use it to down shift. Not saying it right but i have never had a problem with it on any of my bikes

My opinion....

get used to doing it with a clutch...

it is harder to do.. but once u get it its no problem.... and at same time.. if u got buddies to ride with... u can pull a wheelie usin ur clutch then make them try it! they b impressed im sure if they dont do it already..

i kno out of my friends im one of the only one who uses my clutch during wheelies.. none of them are really able to keep it from 1st-5 usin clutch,... but like i say.. it takes some practice to get used to it.. but once u got it.. its a breeze..
though it will always be easier to do without clutching... able to keep ur balance point better...

start by going slowly and shifting ur weight from front to back and get used to how it moves then try shifting gears and if u go down then get up again and wen ur about to shift, blip the throttle lean back a bit cluch shift then blip the throttle this should keep u up and save ur gears but it is all about practice practice practice i hope this helps
kalealmighty
no clutch i can wheelie all the way through 4th no problem
