I have an opportunity to purchase an 04 Suzuki Eiger for $1500 it runs good 4wheel drive works great I have to sell my wifes Yamaha Wolverine to keep it its an 01.The only thing is it has a tick in the engine sounds like my friends polaris 500 dont know if its normal or not.It had a warn winch on it didnt work so I took apart and its full of mud and froze up.It has some surface rust on the gear shifter and exhaust but nothing major.Should I sell it and keep the Wolverine or invest a little more in it and keep it?Are those good 4wheelers?Anything I need to check out?

OMG! an actuall topic about the eiger but you didn't even post it in there nono.gif

anyways no i wouldn't get it. wasn't it recalled because of the frame and tranny or something like that?

heres the thread and where this one should be

scroll down in the main forum and under suzuki utility quads. one of the mods will eventually move it though so don't repost it there.

another thought. being that the winch was packed full of mud and rusted would tell me that its been in mud or water that deep.

i know people that have eigers and have NEVER had a problem with them...even running them into mud up to the seat.

i guess i would just ask the guy if he's been in any deep water or mud. being that the winch was packed tight you can be pretty sure he did. if he lies and says no, then walk away. if he admits to it then ask what he did as maintenance afterwards.

check the usual stuff. oil, coolant, diff fluid. there was a great article in atv rider about what to look for when you buy a used atv. look on their website to find it. i would scan it for you but this site won't allow it.

So, who told you that? Or, are you just assuming that?

i had an 03 eiger for about 2 years until my dad backed his truck into it and crushed it. when i bought the semi-auto Eiger 2 years ago, it never had any problems within those 2 years. the only reason i bought a king quad 450 was that it had a locking front diff.

Post that thing up, man. Good article. Just give proper credit where credit is due, and it'll be alright.
