Full Version: We Really Need An Fcr Section

Camaro1976
There is no real FCR section with the same answers, and you have to look between maintenance, performance parts, tech help, and FAQ to find answers. I think if we had one, it would keep a lot of topics out of the loft and out of the tech help.

Heres the pinned articles i think should/could be moved there:
YFZ TPS and TORS removal
YFZ cable to Z400 Throttle Mod
FCR40 Install Guide
FCR setup from YFZ
and this one could be left where it is, but also copied into the fcr section Modifying petcock for FCR

Then we could start a new jetting database just like Crazie's.

Just by quickly looking, there are over 16 fcr topics (not including pinned ones) scattered between 5 different sections within atleast the last 30 days.

Nice Camaro. Nice.

Great idea.
And perhaps all links to pictures and stuff could be updated aswell.
Kinda sucks when half the pics are gone.

thanks for the support guys.
yeah normalz talked about sony imagestation closing and all his pictures would be gone soon. the only FCR pics i noticed missing were how to re-tap the stock throttle. If i like thumb better than the twist throttle I have now, then i will do that and take the pics for it.
z400kiksazz
I could take some pics, I just did that mod....great mod IMHO if you dont have a fcr to ltz cable or a yamaha thumber!

i've got a twist throttle for my stock carb right now. someone wants to buy it so i'm gonna switch to the thumber temporarily. if i like it, i'll tap it out and use it. if i like the twist, theres an awesome streamline performance stainless steel braided twist throttle i'll get. plus matching clutch cable to go with my brake lines.

I agree. I may be getting an FCR and feel like I have been going around in circles.

exactly. in order to find any info on it you have to go all over the place. and then what you read in one spot is the exact opposite of whats in the other thread. if it was all in one spot, i'm sure it would help a ton of people!

Plus, this is one of the most beneficial and most popular mods for the Z. So I think it defenetly deserves a section.
GregfromNJ
i say it should be done....just have all the info compiled into one section
BlakeN08
I agree...an FCR section sure would have saved me a lot of time when i was trying to get the kinks worked out of mine...
z400kiksazz
the fcr section could include other AFTER MARKET carbs like the eddy.....thumpertalk does have a HUGE section for fcr's.....
GregfromNJ
maybe a carb upgrade section, and have all carb info in there

thats what i thought at first too, but then there'd be all the questions about newbs trying to jet their stock carb. it'd almost be just as bad.
If anything maybe make a carb main topic, and have those subtopics, like in the for sale forum, of stock carbs and aftermarket carbs.
and make it so that you can only post in one of the subtopics, not the main topic. sorry if that doesn't make sense icon_biggrin.gif if its too confusing then look in the for sale forum, and you'll see all the posts below the subtopics.

Great idea!

FCR tips

I know my link is old and needs to be updated but I just haven't had the time.
If someone wants to update it, I will glady update my page and host if for everyone else to use.
Just throwing that out there.
Thanks
Tom

Great Idea I'm currently searching for info on this before I start the install. This would make it much easier to find.

Instead of making a complete FCR section, I'll make it a permanent post in the FAQ Section, with links to all the threads - that seems more appropriate anyway.

As it is now on this board, people can't think to find suspension answers in the suspension and chassis section... No way would most people look in an FCR section to find FCR answers... Really. Sad but true.

EDIT - Here it is:

If you have any more links you guys want in there, post them in this thread, and I'll add them.

That gets too specific. If people want to know how to upgrade their parts for performance parts, then they should be able to figure out how to post the specific question they need answers on in the Performance Parts Section (or other specific sections). If they can't figure that out, then...

If we create a carb upgrade section, then we'll have an airfilter upgrade section, a motor oil section, etc. As it is, this is one of the most complicated message boards on the entire Web, which is both good and bad - we have very many, very specific sections for just about everything under the sun, but people just don't use them. Imagine a perfect world, if every single question was always posted in the proper sub-forum... mhihi.gif

i agree partially. newbs wouldn't look in there, but somebody that's been on the site for a while and really wanted to find out the answer would look in there.

i just found a great article i'm gonna scan and you can put in there. i'll put it up when i'm done.
NormalZ
Just post it up, and I'll grab it and put it in there.

You're right - newbs won't look in there. We can link that and point them to it, though.

Hey Normalz.
I don't wanna be picky or anything but I just can't see the purpose with a sticky that has broken links to pictures and such.

It kinda makes meaningless to read a post that for instance explains how a Z throttle should be modified when half the pics are gone. The post is sort of dependent on those pics.

So , please for the sak of keeping the quality of this forum. Fix the broken links.
And this goes for every thread out there, not just this FAQ fcr thread.

I do know it is much to ask, perhaps too much. But I just wanna have a high quality forum.

It doesn't get any better than this forum for your Z man.

I understand exactly what you're saying... However...

This quad was dropped in showrooms at the end of 2002. 5 1/2 years ago. The guys that figured out the tips and tricks on this thing are from a long way back, for the most part. Many of them (and their accounts) haven't been seen nor heard from in a long time. Alot of the picture hosting they did - well, those accounts have either been stagnant, or deleted now. Not by anybody here, but by them or their hosting service. Nothing we can do about that stuff.

Now, with the information up, we have alot of the instructions and details still available. The pics are gone in lots of posts. That does suck. We still have alot of people here to explain the procedures, or figure out what the pic-poster was talking about.

So, is it better to get rid of the information altogether, or leave it mostly intact and use it? I think it's better to keep it, even if pics are gone. I'd put the pics in there if I had access to where ever the original posted hosted them at, but i don't have that info, and neither does anybody else. We can't possible go into threads all over this board and fix broken links, because we have no access to the original info... How would we accomplish that?

If anybody wants to re-write an article and take new pics, have at it. Let me know when you're finished with it, and I'll compare it to the original article, then pin the thing. Camaro1976 did that on an article, and it turned out kickass! I pinned it immediately.

If anyone wants to re-write an article, that's the model to use to do it right. ^^^

I understand oh mighty NormalZ bowdown.gif
Sorry to have upset you.
I'll make 12 Ave Maria.

You didn't upset me in the least, man...
