I'm thinking of getting a set of those 8 paddle Sand Haulers from an ebay seller since RMATV has discontinued them. I originally wanted to go with 20", but they dont make them in that size, just 21x12x8. My DVX is stock with the exception of a full Yosh pipe and 13 tooth counter sprocket. Will it pull the 21s ok?

My son can run them on his kfx400 but he only weighs 135 lbs. My friend put some on over spring break 2 weeks ago. We put on a 44 tooth sprocket on the back and was turning them great. He weighs around 180.

It will turn them, but like farm boy said, you may need to regear the rear.

Depending on how much you are paying, it might be worth it to get some 6 paddle haulers or 8 paddle gliders instead. You can get them for about $240 + shipping from Fullerton Sand Sports. Give them a call. 714-484-5996

For what it's worth, I'm 145 lbs and I can get the Sand Haulers on ebay for $102 shipped. I checked into Gliders and Haulers and they are a bit rich for my blood........espcially since I mainly play in the sand and dont make it a point to race, but will if the occasion arises. Thanks for the replies.

For $102 shipped, I would go with them. You can't beat the price. If you don't like them, I'm sure you can sell them for what you paid. I would consider going with a 42 or 43 rear sprocket to help make up for the taller tire.

You are right, the price is unbeatable. He lists them for $99 plus $22 for shipping, but with a "Best Offer". I offered $75, and he countered with $80. The best offer expired today, but I'm sure he will honor it. Looks like I will be giving them a shot. I was going to order 20" Sand Stars, but these look pretty good for the price. I just wonder why RMATV discontinued the Sand Haulers.
As far as gear, I will hold off on going to a larger rear since the majority of my riding is in the Nevada desert out my back yard and dont want to have to keep regearing to go to Sand Mountain. The 13 tooth seems to work well for what I do, but wouldnt want to gear much lower for the desert. Thanks again for the response.

I want the 21s but they will hit my nerf bars. So I'm sticking with 20s.

Make sure you give us a ride report of those paddles. Let us know how they hold up over time.

Do you have aftermarket nerf/heelguards? I was under the impression 21's will clear the stock heelguards, but 22s will hit.
Anyway, I made the offer of $80 to the ebay seller and he accepted, so looks like Sand Haulers are in my future. His auctions say limited quantities, so they may be a discontinued tire, especially since RMATV discontinued them.

edit: I see in your sig you have Pro Armor nerfs.

I do have to say that they look really good...but comparing to other sand tires like the Haulers or something that are even remotely similar...I really don't know because this is the first set of sand tires I have owned. I am going to mount them up on the quad this weekend just to see if they're going to hit the stock heel guards or not...I plan on testing them out at Silver Lake on May 16-18 hopefully!

Well I took my Sand Haulers in to the tire shop today to have them mounted on the Douglas rims I got from 1976Camaro...........and they couldnt seat the beads. icon_frown.gif They pumped them up to 15lbs and were afraid they would blow up. They are going to leave them pumped up overnight and see if they seat. Its kind of spooky watching them grow at 15 lbs, they look like balloons. icon_eek.gif

those rims were a pita to get off too. try doing it yourself. mount the tires onto the rims. and then press the beads onto the really wide side where the bead seats on the one side. the front side (i think) is only about a 1/2" and should be real easy to seat.

did they use any silicone spray to lube it up?

They used their regular solution for mounting tires...........not sure what it is. They are going to call the local ATV/Motorcycle shop tomorrow and see what they suggest.

For anyone who is interested...

LTR Stock rims powdercoated black with the 21x12x8 Sand Haulers...NOT Skat-Traks.

On my quad:

Again:

Rear View:

On Scale w/ about 6 psi in them:

Weight: 14 lbs. 15 oz.

Seem much lighter...hopefully will test them out and will give a review in the next month.........I HOPE.

You have the paddles mounted backwards. The paddles (cups) face forward. Not going to get far with them turned the wrong way. mhihi.gif

Maybe that is so he doesnt hurt the grass. icon_biggrin.gif

They got my sand haulers on the bead finally. They took them up to 21lbs, set them in the sun and POP.......POP, they were seated. Hopefully I can get them to 600ft high Sand Mountain in the next couple of weeks.
Here is a shot of the mountain. At this distance, quads look like ants on it although this was during the week when nobody was there........

I do...don't I. I just realized that. It's no big deal...I just put them on the wrong side of the quad. Guess that's what I get for being the first time mounted. I'll fix that...LOL.

Idiot me...mhihi.gif

Anyways, that's what they'll look like with black rims! Haha

Since I have these tires on my 480 lb DS I thought I would share. I have ridden on many hard long rides on these tires and so far they have been great tires for the price. I think a Z would run em' just fine for average duning. They're obviously going to slow down a stockish Z on big hills but otherwise their okay.

RMATV discountinued the tire because they are garbage. I tore two beads right off the tire not the rim the tire itself and one paddle came off. RMATV replaced mine fore free both time but the third time gave me my money back and said they would not carry them any more because they have had multiple issues like mine. good luck.

What type of riding were you doing? Like...what dunes or sand was you riding when you tore them up?
elf
I was riding in the Oregon sand dunes at winchester bay. This happened in about the first or second hour of riding on them with 5lbs of pressure in them.

Whoa, thats bad news. I will be taking mine to Sand Mountain in a couple of weeks. Hopefully they don't self-destruct. angryfire.gif

Yeah, pretty hard to mess up a paddle there. Not even any hard pack there.
