XC Z440
Hey guys, i am getting serious about racing XC and i really need a steering stabilizer. i was hoping a few of you could give me some feedback on the good bad and ugly of each kind and design. thanks for any help you can give.

Remember, a dampener is always better than a simple stabilizer, especially the stick stabilizers....but dampeners are more expensive.

I bought the elka system 3 and its just what you'd want for XC, set it to dampen the turns. You have to remove the radiator shroud to install it, but its worth it. You wont notice it riding, but at the end of the day you'll feel much much better, and turns will go smoother.

Yep I agree the Elka 3 is worth the money. It is a world of difference compared to the stick type.

i have the pep stick style, my arms are beat after one moto because its too stiff. its by far better than nothing, but my next purchase will be a rotary style dampener.

I agree...the more expensive round, "puck" style dampners are better than the "stick" type stabilizers.
That said...
I also have a PEP (same as zookie400 has on his) on my `03 Z & it works OK for what I need...but it`s a bit more of a PITA to mount it up compared to all of the other stick style stabilizers are though...& it gets in the way when ya need to pull the spark plug...which can also be a PITA. icon_frown.gif
My `03 KFX doesn`t currently have a stabilizer on it...yet anyway...but I`m planning on just getting either a Denton or SRP stick type stabilizer to throw on it real soon though.

I plan on saving the money I'd buy on a stick type and get an Elka....or Scott, Precision, GPR, etc. Probably an Elka just to match my suspension...cause I'm picky like that. icon_cool.gif

I had a denton on my ltr then bought a Precision. BIG DIFFERENCE! I will not go back although I just bought the correct stem mount for the denton and put it on my sons ltz icon_biggrin.gif

I have a Denton and it worked fine until I rolled the quad on its side and bent the shaft in like 3 places. Lol now I have to attempt to rebuild the thing and see if it still works icon_biggrin.gif

I did a review on my Elka System 3 in the product review section. Feel free to take a look. Short answer though is....... I'll NEVER own another stick damper after having the rotary style. ;)

If there aren't any in the for sale section...I doubt it. That'd be the only place to find them....OR....post a wanted ad. No one will look in here to be selling their used stabilizer.
