i have a copy of the wiring diagrams. what year is your z?
if you have enough time, you can gut out alot of the stock harness. and luckily i have that time...

I have an '03, any chance of getting a copy of that diagram to zjguy721@att.net
Any tips on getting rid of the extra junk on the bars? I got rid of the dash with a Dr. D and moved the lights, now want to clean up the rest. Should I get a carb mounted choke too?

just search "black blob removal" and you will find some info. yes get a carb mounted choke.

Black Blob removal doesn't really bring anything up. Also the thread with the removal is on LT-R450 central. The wiring is the same so we use the link over here. But here is the link anyway.....

OK, I do have a question about removing the blob. It may be obvious, but better to ask and be sure.
I get a starter button to replace the starter on the blob: check
I get a tether to replace the off/run switch: check
What about the high/low switch? Do I just wire it for one or the other? Any other ideas, like putting a toggle somewhere?

Werd!
I've had mine wired together for over 2 years now and have zero issues.
