I'm going to buy the HID conversion kit.
I'm either going with the 5000K or 6000K.
Does anybody have any input..........in leaning toward the 6k. Sounds like it will look cooler
Zryder85
Dec 13 2008, 05:23 PM
Well the 5k's are probably the pure white color. The 6k's are diamond white and got a little blue in them. You will only notice the blue from far away but they will light up white. If it were me i would 6k.

the sun is 6k. that is the brightest light on the market that will give you the most visibility. anything other than that will give you a color tint but less visible light

It's done. I will post before and after pix tomorrow. All I can say is I have a helluva lot of light now. China Wall will look like Angel Stadium during a night game!
I highly recommend this $85.00 mod if you do much night riding.

Man I went riding last night (been a while since it was apart awaiting the 470) and man do i have some bright lights. my buddys lights looked like they were barely on compared to mine. Highly recommend this if you ride at night. plus i have mine adjusted a lil high so they shine far out....at least 200+ feet if i had to guess...awsome.

They are the smaller ballast. I actually got the kit from the same guy that the pinned install got it from. I didn't realize it till after. I am close to them though so if I have any problems I'll go knock on their door!

Thanks to LTZ guy for posting the pic of his install. It gave me some direction and I pretty much copied him and gleaned the rest of the info from the pinned write-up. It still took a few hours but I could do another in an hour or two now.

hid's take up less juice when running. they just need a burst of electricity when turning on, hence the ballasts. just type "h6m hid" into ebay and you fill find a bunch of kits
i was going to do this when i was doing my rebuild, then i ended up with the lakers so im probably going to try these. they have the 7" for 100, and a 4" for $90. 35 watt and internal ballasts, so they can be wired right into the stock headlight wiring

xenonautohaus on ebay but like I said I know that it's the same guy that a member here had trouble with. They are local to me so I can go to them if needed. When I bought a China quad for my son (BMS) I did so because there main office was within 20 miles of my house. Never had a problem getting customer service and it was a cheap way for him to learn and make sure he liked it. He has a trx 250 now.....so he liked it
Camaro, I know a bunch of guys running those lights on rhinos and raills and have not heard a complaint yet.

I started thinking about the amount of light that the 2 HIDs put out. I may try to add a relay later so they don't have to be on at the same time. I'm a little worried about riding in dusty areas. Too much light....like driving in the fog with your high beams on. If I had it to do over again I think that I might only do the HID on the top bulb and leave the bottom (stock) bulb as the low beam. I think that it would still be a ton of light. When I go to Glamis next week I will block off the bottom bulb and see how much light just the top HID puts out. I may do my son's quad this way.....and my wife's is only a single bulb so I might just be able to buy one kit for bothj quads

As to the pm you sent me...You might get away with a 1 amp diode, but i'm not sure. i might try it this weekend. I'm gonna go pick up a relay from radio shack or i may just use two micro fuel pump relays from here at the dealership and wire it up like I told you in the pm. I'm gonna use the bottom one for low and both for high. I'll let you know how it works out.
LTZguy
Dec 23 2008, 12:59 PM
i just had an idea...I'm going to solder (4) 1 amp diodes together and run it like that. at 14v, 35 watts is 2.5 amps. but upon startup its a little more, but im not sure what it is. I'm gonna try this before i do the relays.

You did dab a lil bit of silicon in the left over hole right? Water will get in there and ruin the bulb quickly.

Try this..........I couldn't find my seller either. Like I said in a previous post he was the guy that drzoo bought his kit from and got screwed. I didn't realize it till after I ordered.
If this link doesn't work, go into the whiter, brighter bulbs thread and you'll find it in there. Eric W. posted it. I would suggest trying to find a seller close to where you live if possible. That way if you have any problems you can handle it face to face!

Let me know when/IF you go....I'll go with you! Nice though. I hope they last! I had a schematic on how to use the dimmer. It will require a relay that breaks...then makes. If your interested I can try and find it. I think I ditched it though.

30k? do they even make them? and just to let you know the number on the light is not the light output. its more less the color of the light. if you are pissing people off you might think about re-aiming your lights

yeah they do make 30k. they are a darker blue/purple so the light output is way down, but i guess you might look cool?

I just got a new truck last month and of course I put my hiss in but I went a couple steps farther. My new truck came with fog lights so I put those in and I have one bulb for hi/lo so I got the moving bulb so my hi beams work. I wrecked my 08 ridgeline, so with the insurance money I put it down and got an updated body style ridgeline and a higher model. I have 5000k in the headlights and fogs for an almost factory look. I'm not crazy about the blue and purple colors.

you can get regular xenon lights or bixenon which have both high and low beam my friend has the bixenon and said it doesnt produce anymore light it just angles the light up higher all i have is low beam 30k which are a pinkish purple but they light up every lane on the road and P1$$ people off at the same time its all good they will get over it

Man does that kit looks great!! Im tryin to buy one right now deffinately the slim ballast though for mounting purposes but I question if anyone knows of a site that sells a kit that is totally plug-n-play?, Most of the appear that you have 2 wires per ballast that have to be connected to the stock bulb connector. It doesn't seem that any will plug directly into the 3-pin connector (should have green/yellow/gray wires) which feeds both stock bulbs. It looks like bulb goes to ballast the ballast goes to stock bulb connector w/ butt connector as pictured below.

Im looking on doing HIDs on my 03 z400. My question is should I do 2 bulbs or should I just do 1? Since I can buy 1 kit and split it with my buddy who has the same bike as me. I see alot of yous say 2 is way too bright.
spize909
Feb 25 2010, 09:29 AM
too much light?
Do you lead or do you follow?
I've got 2 on mine. I am going to buy another kit and split it between my wifes 400 and son't 250. The 250 only has one bulb and she would never lead at night anyway.
One will still be a helluva lot more light then stock. I'd say do it with one and if you don't think it's enough buy another. (they don't have to be bought in pairs).

So i just bought a 6k slim ballast kit from DDM tuning for $60 put it in last night and OMG what a big difference! I left the high beam stock and only hooked the white wire to the HID so when i switch it to high its high only and not both so i can be stealthy when i need to. When i hooked up both the white and yellow they both were on at the same time regardless of switch position. Anyone know how to wire it so i can have it so When its high they both stay on like the stock set up instead of switcing back and forth??
