I need recommendation on on tires. I do alot of trail riding, some playing in the mud and a good bit of jumping on a homemade track.

I am only interested in the Maxxis Razr's or the Razr 2's.

My question: is it worth the extra $27 per rear tire for the Razr 2's? Both have really good reviews. I don't necessarly need the 6 ply rating as the stock dunlops have help up good.

I can get the 4 ply Razr's for $59 and the Razr 2's for $87.

The one thing holding me back from just ordering the Razr's is it has a tread dept of 15/32 and the Razr 2's have 20/32.

I fear the standard Razr will not have enough tread.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Razr 2's will work better in mud and the Razr's will work better in hard packed soil.

I have another question: Do the 18" Kenda Klaws MXR run big? I have seen these in a few pics from this site. They do not look small like the ITP's as far as I can tell. I have seen the 20" XCR and they look like balloons.

i would go with razr 2's since you do a lot of trail riding. i have them and i would probably never buy any other tires.

I know front tires are usually bigger thatn what they say. My 22" razr2 on the front tower over the dunlop stockers. As for rears I have no idea.
Get the Razr in 6ply for the back you will be happy with them.

I measured the Kenda's today, and they are actually 20". I believe its just the stockers are actually a bit smaller than what they say. A 20" Klaw MXR may be smaller though. I know from seeing them at the track that 18" MXR are smaller than stock

I doubt the 18" run big. The 20" XCR's are not balloons. If you put them on an 8" rim, they are going to look like a balloon, just like any 20" tire will.

Here is the best pic I had loaded on the computer of the ltr with 20-11-9 klaw's. The fronts are 21" klaws and they are tiny. Look how they're about the same size as the mx tires on the other ltr.

Also, about your question of to get the razr's or razr2's: Between those two, I would get the razr's. IMO it's not worth the $56 extra for the razr2's. They are great tires and are better in the mud that the original razr's, but unless all you ride is mud, I'd just get the razr's.

If you're still open to other ideas though, I'd get either the kenda klaws or knarly's. Another suggestion would be to get the duro tires that look like the razr's. They are only $49 each and I personally like them better than the razr's.

One big reason I like the R2's over the original razrs is tread life. Because of the fact that the knobs are so deep on the R2's they last a VERY long time. The original razrs are better corners though and are more predictable when sliding.

you would think the razr2's would be better but there not. they slide more and have less btraction. my reg. razrs hook up better and grab in corners.

i can get the razr's up here in canada, but in a 22" i can only get 4ply, do you guys think that this will be ok. i need the ground clearance for the trails i ride, lots of rocks etc. i have already the 23 itp xcts fronts.
Flynbryan
If your not real aggressive in the rocks you'll be fine. We have a quad in our group that runs the 4ply razrs with no problems.
eric.w.13
or go for the itp holeshot HD. they come in a 22 now and they are 6 ply
