Full Version: Anyone Use The 450r Brakes On Their Z?

I've heard of folks using the rear caliper. What does it take to do this mod? Also the Honda and the Z have the same ball joint taper how hard would it be to switch the intire front spindle? I would love to be able to use the dual piston set up the honda uses. Has anyone done this or heard if it is even possible?

Use YFZ front calipers. They are a direct bolt on and they're dual piston. I'm not sure on the rear set up though.

Are you certain of this? This would be great news.

I'm positive. I just put some on.

Fricken awsome! Ive noticed that the yfz450 has been a very reliable parts donor for my bike. Haha! Thanks for the info. So what about the rear?

Send a message to 5.0fox... He knows about the 450r brake setup.

from what ive read, the 450r rear brakes will work, they just need standoff's made up

I know on the 04-05 450r's some things are different from the newer ones. Are all the rear calipers the same? Needless to say I don't know anything about 450r's lol

check out www.cheapcycleparts.com/ATV.aspx. you can look at any diagram of any quad you need to and compare parts to years. thats what i do when i need to see if some thing is compatible.

I am already running the YFZ fronts, but i would be interested whether or not the 450r rear caliper works...

Will the yfz fronts bolt right up on a Z?
rumlesj1
wow i cant believe the front brakes work from a yfz!!! i am running a honda back end on my bike so i have to run honda components. they seem to work good.
Camaro1976
apparently yes they do, I scored some for $25 shipped. I still need to put them on soon, I need to do a bit of a "rebuild" on my z shortly
