Hello Everyone,
We plan on going to Gilbert, WV to ride for a few days. This is my first trip, we are driving from MA and leaving on the 11th. If anyone is down to go im sure it will be a blast, maybe people can meet up with us. So far we have 4 guys going, all sport quads, and all good riders. There are rooms available at the motel we are staying at, as well as other places in town. So if anyone is down for ripping around for a few days PM me and maybe we can make some plans. Ride Safe!

Thanks for that heads up cataway, I think I have read your warning about these trails in another thread, so im sure I can dig up the other trail.

One question for you though, would a 6pack rack and a gallon of gas be a good idea to bring along just in case, or are the gas stations close enough that you can top off if you need to?

I usually have about 2' of fuel line in the backpack on long rides so I can syphon gas if I need to. TIA.

if your making it a point to ride in to Man were you can by gas its not such a big deal not to carry extra gas .
how ever i would carry if ya can, its a big trail and the only place to by gas is on both ends , the trail is well marked but ya can still get lost or should i say disoriented .
seams to me #32 was a trail i did not like , the one i did like was #31 that switch back is a amazing.
and if you want to do fast riding do it in the morning fewer pepole riding at that time.

Well, mother nature ruined my trip, I just got a call from the hotel and the entire Rockhouse and possibly the entire Hatfield/ McCoy trail system is shut down due to flooding. The town of Gilbert is under 5 ft of water and everything is shut down.

It's ironic, the reason I planned to go to Hatfield/ McCoy was because all the state forest trails here are closed due to damage from a bad ice storm in December. Mother nature 2, my riding trip 0. WTF

Needless to say I am considering driving to Michigan for the Silver Lake dunes, since I took the week off to ride.

I feel your pain...I went down a week prior and it rained everyday. I tried to ride in the rain , but i went through my goggle tear offs in 15 minutes . So I turned around and went back to my lodge looking to book another ride in september. found a place 4 miles from bearwallow called thunder lodge. I snagged the last opening for a party of fifteen.
