i think he's thinking about trying to find the bearings locally or other than the dealer. I tried that already. the ones fom the dealer are thinner. I found this out the hard way. though I was gonna save a few buck and when the bearings were sticking out the case more than I thought they should I broke out the micrometer. then I called a few other places and had them measure thier bearings. well what i came up with is i had to buy em from the dealer.

You can get jobber bearings from racegirlrocks on ebay. BUT i would replace crank bearings with OEM. JMO
zophar
BCA (Federal mogul) make them the right size, but it's cheaper through a dealer, or aftermarket atv supply.
MUDDIN
mcguire bearring by my house had them in stock 50 buksn i believe.

i bought the first set at a local cycle shop. they were listed as crank bearings for something else (dunno what) they were to wide and they had 8 balls in them. So the meant the groove wasnt as deep as the factory bearings either. Yea...i'd jus buy the factory ones....I bought them cheaper at a kawasaki dealer than the zuki dealer....but they are high as girraffe behind!

are thy the correct thickness tho?
MUDDIN
if they werent i didnt notice and my bikes running on them still. i handed them mine and they handed me the new ones
cataway
ya its the thickness thats the kicker.
i asked for info from different ones on ebay for the numbers off the bearings just to find out what bearing they are offering ,hard to tell with some ebay people they will rip you off if given the chance.

what about hotrod bearings ? do they use the same bearing as the stockers ?

The bearing they use has nine balls. from the research i did....the more balls you have, the shallower the groove in the race. theoretically the 9 ball bearing should be stronger in a static load situation but weaker in a side load situation. but it really depends on the quality of that bearing....i'd imagine their bearings are made in china and the factory bearings are prolly made in japan. i just spent the extra couple bucks on the factory one. i know those are quality bearings. FWIW

Those guys ROCK! I lived in the area there for 12 years, and I always went to McGuire Bearing for what I needed. I could bring in part of a broken bearing race, tell them what it was mounted to, and they're come out of the back room with the right bearing - everytime. Those people are amazing, man... clap.gif bowdown.gif

Where you at in Roy, MUDDIN? That whole town is as big as a football field. Ever party at the General Store? mhihi.gif
