Either one of you guys know that place that's up off of the Turnpike just before you get to the Airport exit, when going East? It'd be just after the exit on the south side of the road if you're going west...
I'm sure it's private, but there's a sand pit and looks like wooded trails too. If you bring it up on Google Maps, there's a pretty good shot of it. Just find the Airport exit off the Turnpike, and look just to the left of it...can't miss it. There's a big pond/small lake just to the south too, between the trails and State Route 2.
I'd be interested in riding there...if anyone has any connections.

sounds good, i did go on some trails with some people i met, theyre not to bad ,,plus right by my work is a big feild with a track laid out , but no jumps, then right down the road from my work, not even a half mile, there are some pretty fun trails, these are the ones i was waiting to see how they were before i recomended them, personally i think they are pretty fun as long as you have a few people with you, its never really all that fun when your riding alone anyway,, lets set something up for this coming up weekend, ,,,,,you dont have to ride all day , maybe 2 or 3 hours just to see what you think,,,get back with me!

hey patron, dont have a license so for me to come out there would be impossible, but im always down to ride, and i found a couple spots where we can let these Z's of ours stretch their legs, my number is 419-754-4485 give me a call, i still have to get my z registered before i can go to maumee state forest, im working on it though,,,,,the one place by the airprt you mentioned, ill check into it , as of now dont know much about it , i know there is a race track by where you talking about but one time i asked a guy if i could drive my r/c truck there and he said no , ,,, so if its that mx track your talking about chances ar slim , but if your talking about just some trails, ill drive out there and check it out,,,,,,id like to get a group by this weekend to ride so give me a call , if im not home leave a message,,,,

Ehhh, not sure if I'll be able to ride this weekend. I went this past weekend down to Wayne National Forest and the girlfriend decided to roll her 4-wheeler back on top of her when she was climbing a hill...she's alright, just a little sore. But, I've got some work to do now. I have to replace the bars and get a new fender bracket. It's rideable if I replace the bars...the one fender bracket isn't bad and the other didn't bend at all thankfully.
I'll make it up that way sometime. I too want to ride Maumee...

I was at the Maumee forest saturday, and the DNR guy (the Terminator) was there checkin stickers. And he was a real stickler hence the Terminator reference. My sticker was 8 bucks at the DMV. Well worth 3 years of riding at the Forest. Nick sorry I wont be able to ride this weekend (w00terin work). But the following weekend 5-7th June about 15 of us are heading to Haspin acres in Indiana. From what I understand its pretty sweet. If ya got some buddys and could trailer over to meet us your more than welcome to go! Were camping there and it is dirt cheap! Google Haspin acres and check it out! Anybody else is welcome to caravan with us just let me know and I can set up a meeting point! Later!

Yeah...I have my stuff registered in Indiana, and from what I've read thus far, Ohio "grandfathers" in other states registrations.
At least, that's the only legal way I could ride in Ohio for the time being. I didn't have a problem down at Wayne National Forest last weekend, though I didn't get checked at all.

Haha, small world it is!

What was your reason for moving to Salem...I'm guessing job transfer?
I actually live down Ludwig the other way, opposite of Smith Field airport...but I know exactly where it's at. I was actually thinking of buying a house right across from it until I found out that the slab had a huge crack in it!

Yeah your correct. A had to transfer to another GM plant do to my exwife losing her job at Lincoln financial. Lincoln moved their headquarters from Fort Wayne to Philadelphia. She ended up near a branch faciliity near Pittsburgh. But anyway, had the opp. to come back last July but it was too late. I got re-married with two step kids and my wifes family is from around here. Oh well...I will get back to FW one of these days.

Is there some good trails by your house? I live right by Akron and would be willing to drive 2 1/2 hrs. with some friends ( no A@#holes) if the trails are worth driving for. Let me know what days you are available to ride. I am pretty much booked on weekends for the month of june due to graduation partys.

Hey man...do you ever go to Wayne National Forest? I'll probably make it down there either sometime later this month or I'm thinking about going either the Friday before July 4th, or July 4th...I don't think the trails will be too packed down there since it's in the sticks.

Shoot me a PM and we can chat...Wayne would be worth the drive and the money for the pass!!! I'm actually thinking about doing some sort of camping trip down there for a weekend...just not sure when...nor when I'll have my trailer ready.

My father inlaw keeps tellin me to try Wayne. Isnt that by Columbus or something ? I will pm you in the next couple of days and let you know whats up?
hackattack
Jun 9 2009, 06:05 PM
Yep...Wayne is actually about an hour southeast of Columbus, right close to 33. I just Googled from Salem to Wayne and it says about 3 and a half hours or so...that'd be to Nelsonville where you could buy your passes at and where most of the trail heads are within 3, 4, & 5 miles.
