Me and a bunch of friends are trying to plan a riding trip to Marienville within the next few months. We pretty much all ride sport quads. So what are the best technical trails to try out first. And for those of you that stay the night, where do you stay, anybody camp along the trail or at the trail head? And how strict are they about alcohol and stuff (When camping at night, not while riding). Its a 3 to 4 hour drive for us, is it going to be worth it?

I'm going down next weekend (opening weekend). Totally worth the trip. There really isn't a lot of technical trails. Nothing that the average rider couldn't handle. The bike trail has some great scenic areas and is probably the most difficult. Mainly pretty rough. Next is the ATV trail. Has a lot of nice little jumps and a pretty cool hill grade with a lot of drop offs. Nothing major though. The easiest is the Timberline trail. It's two-way traffic. Mud hole at the bottom of the "D" loop. Also a few nice small jumps. As far as alcohol....hell yes! As long as you keep camp clean and leave the glass at home they won't bother you. Usually in the morning a Ranger might pay you a visit. They do patrol for speed though. Not all over but they are there.
We don't camp at the trail heads. I'm always along the trail. Hard to explain how to get there. I have a gps map if your interested of some nice spots.

I travel down there to hunt like 2 or 3 times a year. We usually get a permit and stay in our camper for 3 or 4 days.

Russel City Store. Not as far south as Marienville. Will save you about 15 miles. I'm going to try to dig up my maps and post them later.
