I recently bought some used Haulers from a member here. I got a great deal and the tires are in great shape. I had a buddy of mine pick them up for me because he lived close to the guy. When he dropped them off to me the other day I was surprised to see Cheng Shin Tire wtf.gif on the side instead of Skat Trak. The paddles themselves still have Hauler embossed on them. :

When I compared them to the set of Haulers I bought in November one of the main things I noticed besides they had Skat Trak on the sidewall was that my set was made in Taiwan and the new ones were made in China..............
Another great company bowing down to China. I'm sure the EPA crap here in California (they are a local socal company)drove them to Taiwan and now the almighty $$$$ has sent them to China.

Anybody else bought Skat Traks that aren't Skat Traks anymore?

i have two sets and neither say skat trak. all my buddies have them and theirs dont say skat trak. i think skat trak uses whatever carcass they can get at the time, buffs them down and hot vulcanizes the paddles to them. i'll take some pics of both of mine later for you. rest assured you got a good tire.

Yeah calm down man, they get thier tires from ANYWHERE, most are cheng shin, some are carlyle, hell ive even seen some with half of the maxxis logo buffed off... could you imagine the cost of these tires if they made brand new tires and then shredded the treads back off to make paddles every time they made a set?

they recycle tires, they go through a bead test, leak test, and sidewall test to make sure the carcass is still reliable, then they go to town on them and do thier thing.

Ive NEVER seen a skat trak tire have thier logo actuall ON the tire, just thier paddles...

and if you bought bead to bead buff's like i did you will never know which brand tire you actually have becuse they shave them from bead to bead..

This thread was extremely pointless rant2.gif , and dont bag Skat Trak, they ARE here in the US, just not the tires that get sent to them... so get your panties out of a wad

surprise bro, I got a set of Skat Traks...................and they say skat trak on the side.

if you can see it it's on the left side of the tire.

I'm not unhappy with the tires I got and from everything I know Cheng Shin makes good paddles on their own. Skat Trak can make a paddle with kevlar in it.............is that some old tire that they buff? I see your point and wasn't aware that was what they did and the cost of the tires new (or what they sell as new)are as expensive as any paddle out there.
This thread is not pointless, it brings up a very good point and I know where Skat Trak is they are 45 minutes down the freeway from where I live. Lots of companies are in the US..........cylinder works is in the US and I seem to remember lots of people bagging on their stuff cuz it comes from overseas. In the US and made in the US just ain't the same.

KFXguy2006
My skat traks are a nanco carcass. They are all different.
spize909
I bought those tires brand new in November 2008. They were ordered direct from Skat Trak by an independent shop.
YOURADHERE
Mine say Skat Trak as well. Maybe we can sell them for more then what we paid and make a killin neener.gif Other people I know have Trekster and Cheng Shin on their Extremes.

ETA: Kinda like my country as front mohawks are actually Dunlops. clap.gif

General observation is that the 10" paddles have the Skat Trak name on the side.

maybe you're on to something there.......
what that tells me though is that they must manufacture some of their own tires........
green meanie 440
I bet its because most quads come stock with a 8'' or 9'' rim.... rarely see a 10'' off the factory floor, so that would make a shortage in 10" tires to be able to recycle

But yes, you proved me wrong, sorry

my 20-10-8 extremes are cheng shin

Yup, mine too. When I first got 'em I was also wondering about that, and had that same wtf.gif look on my face. When I saw the embossed "Skat Track' on the actual paddles I made a few queries and found out about the whole multi-carcas thing....
NormalZ
They make most of their tires from other brands, but they do make some of their own carcasses, like mentioned above. If it's a popular size for them, and there aren't alot of reusable tires in that size, then they'll make 'em. The ones for 10-inch wheels, again like mentioned above, will usually have Skat on the side, but not always.

I run 20x10x10 Haulers on the 250R. One set of tires are Skats, and the other set say "Green Saver" on the sidewall - they were riding lawn mower tires in their past life, before they became Haulers... mhihi.gif
