I rode my 03 z 400 today and the temp light came on so I pulled over waited till it cooled down then took off heading back to my truck but it came on again and I pulled over let it sit with the fan running well fan kicked off but not light rode on to the truck with light never going off load it up drove 30 minutes to my house rolled it out of the truck never started washed than went to pull it in the garage and light was still on never went off and stays on and I know it wasn't hot after it had cooled off for well over an hour advice appreciated thanks

it's possible the switch went bad. Have you checked the coolant level in the radiator?
If it drops below the switch it will sometimes read hotter than it actually is.

yeah coolant level is fine it has to be switch I went out and started it just a min ago and its still on thanks

check to make sure that the coolant level is full. if it is full then its more than likely your temp switch that goes in the radiator. normalz did a writeup recently on the cooling system. search normalz recent post and you will find it.

Test the switch and find out - the manual instructions for testing it are in the link that Eric posted. That's the way to know for sure.
