so i just recently got the asv clutch and brake levers and there great. thing is i plan on taking off the blob and getting a killswitch to use as a starter. i have a fcr 39 carb and was wondering what do i do with the old choke cable thats attach on the blob? i noticed the cable goes all the way to the swingarm. if i already got a different carb do i really need this cable and if not what do i need to do? thanks for the help guys in advance

if you have a different carb and dont use the cable take it off with the blob. and trash it. i run a lectron carb and no blob and through all of it away.

right on. so whats the deal with the old choke cable ending up on the swingarm?

The cable only goes to the carb, not to the swingarm. You have the FCR - just remove the cable. If you're not going to remove the blob right away, you can just take it off the bars, and remove the cable from the blob, and then remove it.

Follow this article for your wiring, and you won't have any problems wiring your stuff up. Buy a Normally Closed Circuit killswitch. DON'T waste the time on a Normally Open Circuit switch, at all. Use a kill button from any year RM dirtbike for your start button.

i'll double check again normal but when i pulled the old cable something on the swingarm by the brake rotor moved. could it be the parking break?
eric.w.13
yeah thats the parking brake.

also you can use your choke cable and choke lever to operate the hot start on that FCr if it is a newer one off an 04 and up yfz

thanks eric. since i got my bike used and the parking brake was fried is it easy to take off?

there are two allen bolts holding it onto the caliper. I believe you'll need a 6mm wrench to get them off. Then buy a parking brake blockoff, there around $10 and bolt that on. Take all the garbage off including the clutch perch. You most likely just got the cables crossed when you were tracing them. The parking brake on the clutch perch goes back to the rear brake caliper, and the choke cable on the black blob goes to the carb.
