Well I just bought JD Performance +2 Aarms from one of our members (justinl) his Aarms are white and yellow.
I am going to repowder coat them a different colour but not 100% sure what I want to do..
I was thinking either
all black
top or bottom black and top or bottom orange
top or bottom black and top or bottom green
all green
all orange
top or bottom green and top or bottom orange
Or I was thinking of doing my bottom ones with X liner and painting my tops one orange and green.... first half green and second half orange.... and end the colours on a angle like this Green / Orange instead of a flush green | Orange
What do you guys think....
For pics... I entered QOTM so you can see what my bike looks like as of now b4 my A-arms

lol im sure you know where I stand on painting things. I think its been 3 years now since my rebuild, and the paint is starting to show its wear and chips but its still pretty decent. I would be a little worried about doing the a-arms though, and if they chip you'll see the white underneath which is the worst part. If you do it just sand them down really well so it gets rid of the gloss finish and makes them really powdery and I'd use some black primer over that. Do like 3 or 4 thin coats of whatever color, then 3 coats of good clearcoat

I am powder coating them.. so it wont wear fast at all...
I send all my stuff to RLD Industries to be powder coated... they sandblast, prime, and do multiple coats...they put a good thickness too....
For the bottom ones... thats why i was thinking of getting them X liner... that stuff is like a hard plastic once it dries... it wont look smooth but it wont wear half as fast as anything else.
X liner is the solid black stuff you see in the back of trucks and stuff.. to prevent damage...

yeah i used bedliner for undercoating on my camaro. I think it would work pretty well for arms, but I think powdercoating would be stronger

ah yea.... i though for sure bedliner would be tuffer... or i can go out and buy plastic tubing to go around the a-arms..
I know my srx 700 (sled) had those on its A arms... it had yellow tubing on it... it looked nice and worked very well

I wouldnt do the X liner, powder coaters do this like lava black stuff thats almost like the X liner, but is like the stongest PC you can buy i think? What color green? I think green tops and black bottoms would look good

If you was riding in sand only, i would chrome it too, its just soooo hard to keep that kinda stuff clean i like some chrome but not a lot, very little haha

lol.. I do wayy to much dirt/mud to do chrome... it looks nice but next to impossible for me to keep the chrome looking the way id want it to... chrome can look AWESOME but depending where you ride.. id wreck the nice looking chrome too fast i would think...

i think straight up black would look the best, or bottoms orange and top black might work too. id say forget green altogether as it wont look right with the frame. imho.

Yea Orange would work for sure...Just trying to blend in the green along with the orange... so both colours are not entirely seperate...
Any one good at photoshopping? wish mana was still kicking around

I am a manager of Sherwin Williams post some pics of your bike and let's see what we can come up with. My frame was yellow with a white sub frame so the yellow and white arms looked awesome.
Edit...I just read where you said they were in quad of the month. So i took the liberty of posting a pic for you. I guess it depends on how much you want it to stick out and if your staying with those plastics. Orange bottoms and white uppers would look good or orange bottoms and green uppers (bright green like your plastics).

My a arms have been painted for some time now..although thats paint OVER powdercoat..its holding up GREAT you just have to know how to paint..many thin coats holds up alot better than 3 thick coats..just keep that in mind..I have also NEVER used primer.

I have found that works well too. i used that method to clear over my rear axle that i polished. it worked well. i gues the way i look at it is.........you know when you get overspray on something and you cant get it off for nothin...thats basically what i did was overspray it until i could put a smooth coat on it.

Paint on a-arms doesn't last. Well, it doesn't last when you race gncc's atleast. I can testify to that from personal experience. lol
Paint on a frame will hold up pretty well if its done right, but a-arms are just too prone to abrasives. Powdercoat on a-arms is the only way to go if you want it to last and look good.

yupp... as mentioned above... im going to powder coat them by RLD industries... its where I got my frame done and they did a good job on it...
I want my bike as unike as i can get it... and as flashy as i can while making it still look nice... if i can keep the bike to 3 major colours... KTM orange, Kawasaki green and black... would make it simple and keep it matchin..
I know painting just like that doesnt work too well.. my rings on my rims where primed... then multiple coats.. and when my parents took off i baked 3 layers of paint in the oven! lol.... as soon as they got back they asked me wtf i did cause all you smelt was paint in the house... lol.. was a little expirament.. that didnt work lol but i find the paint is more elastic and doesnt flake off unlike my front wheel hub ones that have been repainted 1once
My bike turns alot of heads when people see it... let alone when im next to a 450 or pulling away from one

Acutally this past weekend.. i let one of my buddies try my bike on a oval dirt track... i told him how I needed a-arms n crap so whatch out on the curves.. so he took off then my buddie on his 450r started racing him... the guy on my bike kept pulling away further and further.. then on the 3rd lap took the curve n bam... all i see is my bikes front end up in the air... landed straight on the wheelie bar then nose dived n landed straigh on my bumber.. then did a completely flip n landed on all 4 wheels... only thing that was trashed was my rear grab bar... n tweaked my front bumber which is BARELY noticable... and one of the mounts for the plastic is cracked of.. though they where already half cracked off... i laughed.. crap happens... though he is buying me a new rear grab bar...
question after this long pointles story....
what can I use to put my plastic mount back intact... i was thinking PL would do it... but wonder if you guys have any idea

You should look into Dodge Viper Venom Green. Thats what color my frame is going to be... hopefully this winter.

Damn that is a nice colour!... but special ordering that type of colour to powder coat would tear a new cornhole in my wallet...
what you guys think of the bike so far anyways?

lol id beleive it!... it costed me 310$ to powdercoat my whole frame sub frame and upper a-arms.... i was going to get a harly davidson gloss orange but would of been over 100$ more!... then they said they had a ktm(ish) orange... so i took that instead
