So I'm going to put some $ into the old Z, and I figured what better place than her to start.
I'm looking for:
front shocks (anything is better than 6 year old stock)
A-arms
rear axle to compensate the arms
rev box
If someone wants to make me a package deal, that would be cool. Everything needs to be compatable
thanks guys

I'm looking to upgrade a bit, if not then I will be replacing with new stock stuff. But that will be a last resort, if I cant get a deal on aftermarket.

So whats with Works? Did you have a bad experience, you heard something or what? To just say you would stay away from them is not very informative. Can I get some info?

if i were on a mojor budget i would but some shocks w/ rezzies and have them rebuilt. A lot of works our sold prebuilt for a range of riders, not built for you personally. Which is really a big deal, diffrent riding classes are a major thing. what works shocks you plan on going with? Also works are very squeaky shocks, that would get on my nerves after i just spent 500 plus. I recently just ordered a axis rear shock. They told me the rider class was very important when building it. They also asked how i like my shock, soft or firm, weight with and without gear, rider class. Imo if you dont get asked all this info the shock will not be built for you specifically. If i were you i would spend the extra money for the bottom line peps. And deffintily get rebuildable shocks

All the things you just mentioned is what the guy from Works talked with me about on the phone. In addition to that he said within 30 days of purchase if i don't like how the shock rides I can bring it back and they will revalve it and give me another 30 day trial period to make sure the setup is to my liking. That's why I said I liked what they had to say.

this may be an option, but after the price of the shocks and then the cost to have them revalved I'm damn near the cost of aftermarket shocks.

imo. if i was you id get stock shocks with rezzies or 450r or ltr shocks and send em to gt thunder or race tech to get revalved and/or rebiult to your liking. they would prolly be jus as good as any others
vcforlife15
Aug 7 2009, 06:28 AM
get a set of 450r shocks for 150-200, then have them revalved for your weight for around 400-500. The things they can do with these stanard travle shocks is amamzing, no point in ever buying a ST shock, if you can have yours rebuilt. The only time i will buy aftermarket shocks is for LT personally. Latley, ive been hearing bad this about gtt, i can show you some threads to prove this if wanted. I personally have never dealt with GTT. I think they are just in over their head sometimes, and rush to get it done. I would recomend DERSI or JH RACING. Hear good things about those two, espically JH.

I've got a dura blue rear axle +2+4 adjustable it's been painted silver and needs the spacers. I have the lock nut and ring I'll take 90 plus actual shipping. Let me know because I'll be putting it on eBay real soon.

Oh and about the works shocks I had a set with the rezzies and I hated them. They were worse than the pogo's I had. Also they had no adjustability. Just my .02

most companies will revalve them if you are not satisfied, but not everyone will say that right away because their confident in their valving.

I've got a set of Laeger +2 ST a-arms. They're the heavier duty gusseted "Stock Shock" model. The ball joints are in good condition with no boot tears and the arms have typical chips and scuffs from use but are otherwise in good condition too.
These would work well with LTR stockers or if your light maybe even with high comp set Z stockers, but with aftermarket you'll be in fine shape anyway.

thanks for all the replies and info. i'm leaning toward new stock 450 shocks or newer stock shocks with rezzies. I'm going to wait on the a-arms and axle, but i am looking for a rev box (cdi)
KB Motorsports

If you change your mind on the a-arms.. I can do 575.00 for a-arms and with a rev box. The axle would be an extra 300.00
Everything is brand new! :D
