your petcock could be going bad. turn it to prime and see what happens

did you buy it new? if you did, it wouldnt have a fuel filter. how old is the gas? did you just get gas and put it in it?

i really doubt you have have fuel filter unless you put it on. i was just asking about your gas because ive bought brand new gas and it ended up being half water and my car die on me 5 miles down the road. it just kinda sounded like there might be some water in it. it will idle but when you give it some throttle it dies or tries to die. i just always try to start with the simplest things first.

your gas cap could be messed up. when it dies unscrew the gas cap and see if you can here anything. if it makes a sucking noise then the vent is clogged. this will create negative pressure in the tank and prevent the fuel from flowing.
also does it do it all the time or just occasionally?

Clean the carb and check the plug. Check wire connections. You've probably checked all of this already but just throwing out some ideas. Maybe a bad ground somewhere?

its pretty easy. do you have a manual? if not, go get one. it will help you ALOT. if you dont get a manual you might have a hard time. its always nice to have some thing to refer to if you are not sure about some thing.
