Roll the quad down a hill the other day. Hit the one rear tire hard enough to pop the tire off the bead and bend the stock rear axle. The axle isn't too bad and I'm sure some would ride it the way it is but it should be repaired/replaced. Has anyone had much luck straightening axles? We ride mostly trails with no major jumps so the stock axle should be fine for a replacement. Correct me if I'm wrong but the 03-07 axles will all fit.

you can straighten it with a press but its a lot of work to get it perfectly centered again.

Thanks for the input, I was thinking it would be easier to get another stock one and be done with it. Anybody have one for sale cheap?

well my rear axle was bent also, called a couple of place to see if it could be straigtned and they all said you could make it better but not perfect, you might not notice it at lower speeds but the faster you go the worst it feels, so i have an 03 and bought an 05 stock axle off this site for only $95 shiped witch is a good price. andi peplaced it with my dad. and took it on the trails last saturday and had lots of fun and it worked great. So i would recommend looking on here in the For Sale section for an axle, the OEM parts stored the axle can be alot.

Its a good idea that your replacing it, i hear that bent axles can be hell on your carrier bearings...
If you wanna just go get the G force or something with a life time warrenty so if it happens again, then you just pay shipping for both of them for a new one, thats what i suggest

I bent my stock axle last year and bought the G Force axle. It's actually alot beefier than the stocker, so it should be alot harder to bend, plus you get a single lock nut instead of two. The finish stays nice as long as you was it every now and then. It's also adjustable up to 4 inches. It's like you can't loose for $200 but if you do get the G Force axle I would recommend getting the axle wrenches they sell also. It make life so much easier.

Any more opinions on the G force axle? This is the one the RMATV sells right? It doesn't look like the wheel hub nuts are castle with cotter pins but use locktight instead. Kinda wish there was a metal lock on them.

I'm not sure if your interested or not , but if you call we can give you an awesome deal on LSR axles. I've always had really good luck with LSR. I've had one on my YFZ450 since 2005.

The G force axle comes with COtter pins, and castle nuts, no worries PA comes with the rotor hub and a lock nut too, and even a snazzy sticker. I would not buy stock axle even if you dont go with G force get something with a Lifetime warrenty. I have snapped my G force out at the track, and just paid shipping for the new one. Its not only gforce i have seen snapped thouigh my bbuddy snapped his LSR. If you go with either one of the two brands you will be very happy

thank god they use cotter pins or i'd be toast

They were the only things holding on my hubs at one time. I could never get the hub nuts or the axle lock nut to stay tight, so i coated them in red-loctite and so far so good.
I would buy the wrenches too. Whenever you want to change a rear sprocket you'll need to take the nut off, so make it easy on yourself. Or if you have access to a milling machine you can make your own pretty easily

Not sure how bad yours is bent but i have a stocker that isn't bent to badly if your interested. Only can feel it running in 5th gear. I used it for like 6 months till i got my RPM.

I have a stocker, Perfectly straight. Dosn't look too fancy or anything. The splines were the lock nuts go is a little f'd, but they go on fine. I'd do 40 for it , you just pay the shipping.

Since this came up again....
I checked the axle and it was just less than 3/32 out (measured at the high and low point as the axle was rotated). I'm gunna let it go for now. I'll need axle bearings in a littl e while anyways so maybe I'll just wait till they go and get a new axle at the same time. Any suggestions as to how bent is too bent?

I rode mine with the stocker so out of whack that when I would set the Z on the stand to oil the chain you could see a good wobble

. Surprisingly it didn't really make it ride much different so I just rode it until I found another axle.

i clipped a tree and bent my axle. i rode it like that for at least 2.5 years. when i finally got around to changing it the bearings were still good. it was pretty bent too. i didnt notice until i got out on a road or something. it was out at least 1/8" or more. when i finally put in the new axle and went down the road it still wobbled a bit. it ended up being my hub was bent too.

That's what I like to hear. LOL I only notice it on the road and have other things to spend the money on. Thanks for the input.
