mhihi.gif LOL...mine caught fire when the packing blew out! luckily i was riding the creek and i had water everywhere or the bike would have burned to the ground. I packed it with stainless packing so it wont blow/rot out again. The carbon fiber itself will not rot out...but stay on top of the packing. IT WILL CATCH FIRE!!!! and its not easy to put the fire out. 3 or 4 people were splashing water on it with me. it melted and discolered a lil big but you cant really tell.

so would it be better to just get the aluminuim or titanium than the carbon fiber and about packing how often does it have to be packed

Depends how much you ride. If your raceing, I could see the need for it to be packed twice a season.

Do you have a CF pipe? Reason for that is because as the packing breaks down (may not be noticable to the eye) it lets more exhaust heat to the outside of the can. In this case its carbon fiber so the heat will start to destroy the can.

I packed mine with straight stainless steel wool, medium grade...been lasting quite a while. i ride though water alot.
