So an O-ring goes over the little nozzle like pipe sticking out of the case, than the oil line fits over that and a 5mm allen wrench to tighten it down?
Exactly. Locating pin (the short metal sleeve), o-ring around it, and mount the fitting to the engine case. No o-ring = massive oil leak.

I put oil directly into the top of the case, and than some in the tank, should all this oil circulate through and start registering on the dipstick. Also the engine was rebuilt would it take more oil?
- 2.1 quarts for an oil change (no filter change)
- 2.2 quarts for an oil and filter change
- 2.3 quarts for a full engine teardown
You add it all to the oil tank, not into the engine case.
