Hey guys this winter i plan on upgrading my front suspension since my ungraded rear end really makes the front feel like crap. I plan on getting a set of +2 arms and some 4/1 hipers to bring it in since i race harescrambles. What i'm wondering is what should i do for shocks, i want the best bang for my buck. I had GT thunder redo my stock rear shock and it rides great now. Would my stocker fronts be just as good being redone by him. Or am i better off spending alittle more money and buying a set of elka's and just h aving the valved for myself. I'm not 100% sure how much of a difference an aftermarket shock makes over a stocker that is vavled for yourself. Looking to get an opinion on what would work out better in the woods evironment. Also does anyone know if there is such thing as max ground clearance standard travel arms?
Thanks alot!

I have my rear shock done by GTT and have Elkas on the front that have also been redone by GTT. The only reason I didn't use the stock fronts is because there are currently no replacements available for the bushings in the stock shocks. If you have the money I'd recommend the elkas, but if not just send your stockers to GTT and worry about the bushings later. Laz will do a great job with your shocks. I'm very happy with mine. ;)

If your looking at the elkas let me recommend at the very least going with the reserviored shocks. I currently have the Recreational series shocks and though they're great for about the first 1_1/2 hrs of a race, that last 30mins you can really tell the shock is fading. If I had to do it over again I wish I would have at the least gotten reserviors and would like to have compression adjustment too.
Also, if your buying Elkas new they will be setup for your weight/riding setup from elka. It will still be an improvement over stock. Its just that much better after Laz reworks them.

Ya i will not buy without rezzy's comp and rebound. I will most likly be going B class next season so i'm not going to buy anything but the very best i can afford. I'm actually hoping to come across a nice set used and then send them to laz to keep the price down!

just to let you know, i am getting ready to try out a bushing kit for the stockers that All Balls sent me. i am just waiting till after this weekend cause i didnt want to miss this ride saturday with pimpit r6 and hackattack if it didnt work. im going to work on them next week and i will let you know how it goes. if it doesnt work im going to ship my shocks to them and have them build a kit for the stockers. one way or another, we will be getting a bushing kit made for the Z400 stockers.

I had my rear shock redone by GT Thunder on my LTR and it was a night and day difference. Any shock thats setup right for YOU is gonna be much better.

I had Laz do my rear shock first too and it truly was like night and day. Shortly after that I had him do my fronts and that also was a great improvement. It wasn't however, nearly as good a ride as I got from the Elkas I had Noleen J6 Racing rebuild for me. Clark at Noleen (built Doug Gust's suspensions when he was still racing on Elkas) also does a great job and is reasonable...and he's easy to deal with! Not to say Laz wouldn't do just as good a job but I just ended up for personal reasons, going with Noleen instead.
There was a marked improvement from the rebuilt stockers to the rebuilt Elkas. I do mostly XC racing and some track play and they were better on both. Another good thing about the way he rebuilt the Elkas is that they give me a way bigger adjustment range than the stockers did.
If you find some decent rezzied used Elkas that are the right length you'll be happy with them and they may even cost less than 395.00 to rebuild.

Yes you can still use your HD USA arms. You will just have to take some measurements w/ the arms mounted on the quad before you send him your shocks. The procedure is outlined on his website. gtthunder.com
They do great work and you will be very happy w/ the results.
