Does anybody know any brand that makes good long travel A-Arms cheap? Any info would be nice.
Camaro1976
check out beay.. good deals to be found. i bought my laegers +3 long travel arms for around $250 shipped. Couldnt have gotten a better deal considering I sold my old ASR ST arms for around $200. Laegers is out of bsuiness though so I dont know how hard it will be to find balljoints or w/e but I think it'll be fine

your not going to find anythingg cheap..id look into houser or roll design because they makes some saweett a arms although there was acheap set on here not too long ago with shocks
Flynbryan
Motosport has Houser arms on sale for darn near half price right now in LT.

OK thanks for the info i think i might be better off making my own A-Arms but idk.

I considered making my own at one time, but unless you have a buddy with a set that you can basically copy it'll be a lot of design work to get all the balljoint angles and everything correct

You could do like me and get a set of Burgards and find out the left and right ball joint angles don't match.. lol
Worked real good for oval track races.Just not worth a crap for turning right.. mhihi.gif

I plan on swapping my ST Lonestars to LT before too long.. maybe.
I looked at the design differences, and there's only a mounting point difference.. So it's going to get swapped hopefully soon.

i just thought of something... if your aftermarket a-arms have plates on the top like stockers, you could buy the lowering kit thats a solid bar that bolts where the shock is and swings out. If its the right length it could basically turn your ST arms into LT arms....

I wonder if that would work kev... HDUSA is kinda cheap, i think the cheapest i know of for just the arms nothin else is i saw a houser set on their site not to long ago for like 380 i think

The lowering link would work til you jumped big on them...
There have been a few people jump with them and break them.

I would save up and go with a good a-arm. It's not wise to take short cuts on something so important as your front suspension. A lot of companies don't include the extra gusset needed for rough racing conditions and use cheap ball joints. I'd suggest spending a couple hundred dollars more and buy a trouble free a-arm. I can tell you two A Arms not to use!! One is a company called Magnum sold by dirt-deals.com or World Class ATV (both are the same comany also goes by Magic Motorsports INC, Magnum Distributing, Mr X World Class Cycle, all the same address) the other is a company called Wicked. Both companies sell A Arms on ebay.

I bought a set of Magnum Pro (looks like LSR Racing without the star stamped at the skid guard in front of the shock.) for my DVX400. The pivot tubes were so loose the bearings and seals fell out when you turned the arms on their side. I returned them and am now out $88.52 for bearings and return shipping plus labor. They have a one year warranty but when I asked to get a set of good a arms they told me they open several boxes and all the bearings fell out when they inserted them into the tubes and for me to return mine for a full refund including my shipping (they never paid for my shipping). Then I find out they put the arms back into stock to sell to some other sucker. They have one complaint on eBay now from someone else about the bearings being loose on a Yamaha Banshee. I even made a video of the arms on their side I insert the bearings into the tube and when I let go they fall through and out the otherside!

I had read some things abut Wicked on the forum most of it was old so I thought I would call them and find out about them before I bought them. Glad I did they know nothing about a Z400. The guy told me I didn't know what I was talking about when I said they changed ball joints in 05 from the 12mm Honda to the 10mm Yamaha. He said it never happened and he had sold hundreds and never had anyone complain about them having the Honda ball joint. He didn't even know what the steering knuckle or the pivot tubes were I had to explain to him what I was talking about!!! Tells me he doesn't know about the item he sells and to stay away from him. I'll never buy any a arms from Wicked!

I don't see the problem with welding aluminum? If you could get your hands a high frequency welder, it shouldn't be a problem.

Camaro1976
well unless you have a set of aluminum a-arms, good luck with that mhihi.gif

If your going to spend the cash for a set of good LT shocks, you might as well just pay the extra for a-arms and not rig them up
