OVer here, its cause during the summer, its hotter then hell over there... In the winter there, like last new years, the highs was around 80-85... just has to do with weather, no fun riding in 117 degree weather

I look at the hill everytime we drive by and tell my wife that someday I'm going up it! Always seems to be a few tracks on it.........
I say the same thing about Kelso Dunes.....now that a huge sand dune but completely untouchable.

Did you see what's happening with the new road?
If we get a mild weekend on a full moon before Thanksgiving I'll be there! If not Thanksgiving will probably be our first G-trip.

ya same with the shovel. the city closed it due to injuries and causing bad environments for a tree or something idk. its bs but wat ever. ya if u can get to it go for it. but make sure u can ride and get away from the local cops lol. they have quads dirtbikes and sandrails like glamis does.

we use to water ski in the canal before it was concrete. buggy with a pull rope.........that's back in like 1976-8 or so. It's about the same time we were tearing it up on ATC 90's.

Aug 27 2009, 01:58 PM
Rumor has it that they are building a new wash road as we speak. A local forum has a thread about it...
As for glamis idk my dads friends usually do gordons well, and they came to glamis last time, so now i guess they wanna do gordons well. We will see, any of you ever been over there? I have not, everyone says nothing compairs to glamis, but is there really any big differences? idk i would like to do glamis, i love how big the bowls are and everything there
Is there a vendors row at gordons? You know incase something brakes!

haha idk...maybe if its not super hot lol. i heard superstition mtn is pretty bomb to. but mainly me and my fam ride ocotillo and glamis, and everynow and then az (parker) its pretty bomb out their...a couple of roads that go like 2 or 3 miles and u can drag! but uve got to watch out theirs a couple of mind shafts that go straight down....ive stoped at one through a rock and never heard it hit bottm....and it was a fairly large rock....took two hands....and a couple u can hear water in....its crazy!
rinehart_mitch
Aug 27 2009, 03:11 PM
So how is gordons in comparison to glamis though? I am pretty sure as of now i should make it in the dates i posted....
Does gordons have a vendors row and all of that? I am down to go anywhere and just wanna ride!
And ya man, there are old abandoned mine shafts all over the state, just the other weeked on the news a jeep rolled over 4 wheelin into one, and the guy got pretty messed up, they are workin on fillin them, but there are just soooo many.
spize909
Aug 27 2009, 07:51 PM
Mitch, I'm pretty sure you'll find everything you need at Gordon's Well......never been down there but I would bet they have some kind of vendor area. Dunes will be fine. It's basically south Glamis. I know people that go there and love it.
If they don't get that road done we may do GW this year. I have seen pictures of the road under const. on the ASA website but not sure how much you can get done when it's so fing hot.
Here's a link.....they better haul ass cuz they are running out of time!

If you mean by going under the tracks at wash 10, no.
I think you still can now but once the old road is closed, and from what I understand it is still open, you will not be able to get to it. Their plan is to add another track and re-do the wash undercrossings and for sure then you won't be able to ride under.........I heard that is kind of on hold for now as they aren't moving as much freight so it's not worth it. We'll see I guess.

Aug 28 2009, 01:45 PM
yea gordons does have vendors and stuff like that it is better than glamis in my opinion because less people and smoother dunes

i live in san diego and i can make it in about 3 hours with the bike in the back of the truck not too bad ..... yea i want to do a week long trip this season
rinehart_mitch
Aug 29 2009, 11:22 AM
week long is about 2 days to long for me. We did glamis last new years for 8 days! By the last day, i am usually the kid in the lead, doin 4th pinned through the dunes, and i was in the back, goin in 2nd gear on the last ride, i was dead. Idk just too long of a trip for me, i think 3.5 days of riding is perfect....
kalealmighty
Aug 29 2009, 03:12 PM
yea i had a trip last year like that it was no good....it didnt help i waas following a bunch of 450s and it was a 5th gear ride ...

I hear ya, i am one of the ONLY 400s in my group, and plus out on the track the 400 dont have enough power... I am about to throw my Z up for sale, there is a very nice honda for sale with lotta goodies for very cheap near by

rinehart_mitch
Aug 31 2009, 12:52 PM
DOnt get me wrong i keep up with everyone just fine, my group likes to see how fast we can go, so i am usually 4th or 5th gear... The tracks, i aint to bad either, i am debating on throwing the Z up for sale before or after dune season its time for her to go

I love the Z but just not for me anymore i think i out grew it, lookin back at it now, i wish i didnt spend as much money on it as i have... I wish i woulda just learned how to ride, and put the bare essentials on it like bars, nerfs, and skids, and a pipe...
I am ready to move on, the Z aint a MX quad in my books, not tryin to start anything, but everyone dumps all this money into them, including me, but i havent gone as far as some people, when they could just get a 450, forget the BBK that everyone does and just worry bout suspension, nerfs, bars and the other tiny t hings, and save a tonna money.
Thats my opinion, i am going to talk to my dad later bout sellin it, which he should let me cause i have paid for it... so we will see HONDA here we come :)

hahaha NO!!! no honda! lol but ya, ive only done a few upgrades but i dont ride mx and the 450, well reverse is a nice thing to have! but ltr 450 is a very nice bike. but i like the outlaw or better yet ktm's new quad!!!!! thing is sick!
rinehart_mitch
Aug 31 2009, 09:02 PM
Honda or yamaha is the way to go man, i am stayin away from the LTR, the only advantage to that is it is wide already... I have the opprotunity to trade the Z for a 450R and i gotta go check it out sometime this week, i think i may do it if it all checks out,
kalealmighty
Aug 31 2009, 11:50 PM
dont sell it! lol
rinehart_mitch
Sep 1 2009, 06:26 AM
It aint sellin its a trade, i would keep my paddles, and my rims and tires i got on there right now... If they guy agrees to do it, i am goin to meet hime somewhere look it all over, ride it, and then talk my dad into at then do it if everything checks out, hopefully he will get back to me today and maybe meet sometime this week, if i get it this far away from the trip, maybe a ican do some nerfs, intake, and a pipe by then at least, should be fun!

eh, i would still stick wiht the z. but its ur bike. my dad said if i wanted to trade for his 500 i could b i love my z its perfect now that ive had the money to put wat i want into it. the z is like the perfect universal bike. but ya make sure u check out the engine and stuff. y would someone want to trade for a lesser bike?

THey trail ride, are getting older, dont want the kick start, too much power for them, want reverse, there are many reasons
B-HEAD
Sep 1 2009, 11:55 AM
ah c didnt know they were older lol. eh still not sure about getting rid of the z though. but ya im not a big fan of kick starting!
rinehart_mitch
Sep 1 2009, 12:37 PM
Its something different, i need more power, the Z was great for when i first started riding when i only rode trails, now all i ride is the dunes and MX, i think the last time i have gone trail riding is a year ago, i am just bored of the Z, and i ask everyone about their opinions for 450s who races them, and their number one choice is honda, then yamaha, i have been looking into both for a long time now, and i think honda is the way to go.
Its all personal preference, and i dont mind kick start, these quads usually start up first or second kit, unless the valves are outta wack

um bro i ride at glamis and i have no prob their. its technique. this is my 2nd quad started with a 250 and sucked. got the 400 and the only thing is it sux in the whoops compared to my dads predator 500 (but it has fox gas resi, mine is stock gas resi) but i can climb olds chinawall etc with no prob and do it better than most 450s and my dads 500. but thats bc riding technique. but as far as mx. ya i c the advantage of the 450s their race designed. but the new ktm is the new bad ass as far as ive seen. but kick starting....eh more work....il just stick wiht elec.
