First heres the problem. I CANT get my chain to stay tight. ever.Tightened the w00ter out of them, replaced chains with o rings, carrier bearings, tried swapping the 4 bolts thinking they might be diff lengths or something, greesed them, everything that i know of. any othe ideas i should try? Im broke but getting tired of this nonsense of riding and then having to take tools with me to adjust during rides. So heres the new question. Will a LTR swingarm fit a z400? or a 450r or any other? if it would, would the z400 axel fit in the ltr swingarm? probably a long shot but i dunno what else to do without coughing up 500 and i dont even ride it that much anymore. i also have another z and its starting to do the same thing. i even had it at the dealership for something else and had them mess with it and still no luck. any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

i dont think he ltr swinger will fit the Z. i know the axles wont interchange. i have never had a problem with my chain coming loose. when i adjust my chain i make sure i clean everything before i tighten the bolts down. make sure no dirt is under or between the washers and bolts. it can slip if it is dirty or has any thing in there. same with the bottom side. i torque my bolts down to 100ft.lbs. the book says i think 74ft.lbs. i like the Zs chain tensioning system. i used to have a banshee and still have 2 blasters and i hate there system.

the last was a renthal O ring. but i have tried numerous chains, 0 rings and non orings. all the same problem.

I had the same problem til I got a full sprocket and chain setup.
The old sprockets wear out chains FAST.
If you've been using old sprockets, that explains your tension issue.

I had to adjust mine every ride, or half way through every ride... especially races!
My sprockets looked good, but they had just a little pull on the teeth and it was eating chains.

thats a good possibility. i have always put on new sprockets when i replace my chain. i have always been told to do it that way the reason is just that. the old sprockets will eat a new chain for dinner. i have used all different brands of chains and never had a problem with any of them when they were put on with new sprockets. i did use a new chain with an old sprocket once on my beloved banshee. i couldnt get that chain to stay tight for nothing. but that was a long time ago and im smarter now.
