Allright, i'm in the market for a new set of tires so i can do some different types of riding. I have been eying some itp trac stars but havent heard anything but mag articles about em...you know you can trust mag articles...anyway..anyone use these yet? The type or riding i will be doin with them is trailriding, muddy trails, dirt, and occasional playin on a motor x track. heres a pic.
LTZguy
Aww come on...no one tried these or have a friend who has? they look like a good tire but they are not cheap.
Z400MX
never tried them but i think they are alot like the stockers
LTZguy
They say in the articles i read that they are super light, are a lil more stable than the stockers but have better grip in a wider range of terrain, which if it is true, is what i'm looking for. I was gonna ger some razrs or holeshots in 20" rear and 21" front but those dont work well in mud..
dvx_rider
I dont see those being any better in mud than a set of regular razrs. I race harescrambles and i have seen razrs get through same crazy conditions!
tonyz400
How deep of mud were you planning on going through on a lowered and stretched out kawi. I have 20 inch razrs and 23 inch holeshot XCTs, and they work wonders in the mucky stuff.

well heres a couple of things i should mention. i made the front and rear suspension adjustable where i can raise it to stock height in about 10 minutes. the air box goes back on with the quickness too. the motor makes alot of power but it still makes gobs of torque down low. even more so than the stock motor, so its still trail rideable and mud rideable. (i still cringe about taking it in the mud, but i still do it...lol) as far as being stretched, its 4" longer, thats not much if you think about it. lemme ask you this: would you ever trail ride a kfx700? its a sport bike too. but all you guys who think being 4" extended just kills the bike, take this into consideration...a stock kfx 700 is 78.1 inches long.....a stock z400 is 72.0 inches long.....so mine is still shorter than a kfx700....ever think of it that way? what? you say my turning radius is a bit bigger? i bet not. i ground the steering stop some to let the front wheels turn a little more. i make a u turn in the same circle as before. What? you say "o bein longer you wont be as nimble and be able to flick it in tight spots anymore" i disagree again...drop 40lbs off a quad and you see what i'm talkin about.

actually i would think they are better. the lug are spaced farther apart so mud cleanout would have to be better. i have been mud riding a few times where my razrs get clogged and the tires become slick with mud and i stop movin.
Z400MX
looks like your going to have to try them and let us know how they work..haha
tonyz400
Who said anything about turning radius. We're not here to pick on you man, we're just commenting on a thread you started. That's all.
tonyz400
I just didn't know if you wanted to go through Mud up to the gas tank or just a few inches. It just isn't common here in ohio to even have that big of a swinger on a z so i was just curious how severe of a trail you could go through.

No man i didnt mean it in a rude or defensive way...especially to you. but there have been comments made before about a 4" swinger is too long for doin this and that, but i was just making some points. i didnt mean to sound like a douche or anything...cause i'm askin for help on deciding...but i guess i was jus tryin to make some points on a 4"er still bein acceptable with trailriding. I guess its all in what your willing to sacrifice...altho i feel like i'm not really sacraficing anything and it makes it more stable goin up steep hills....

anyway getting back to the tires:

I might order them as i have been eyeing them for a while...but hopefully some who has used them can chime in and give me some feedback on them.....i really dont wanna waste almost $300 if i dont have to.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH^^^^^^

I just got my Maxxis RazR2's in the mail. These things are BEASTS. And they are 6ply and relatively light. the whole set only weighs 36lbs. I dont think thats bad.

I was gonna get the Trac Stars. But decided against it. Was more a personal preference. I've never had any luck with anything ITP.

how do they work in sloppy slippery mud? i have some 22" razrs right now and the lugs get clogged easily and i get stuck. there was this one place i went to that there was a muddy flat field. it was about 4-5" of slippery slop. it was about the size of a football field and i had to go through it to get to the trails...well needless to say, about 50-75 feet out...it just stopped pulling cause the tires were loaded with mud. so i had to get getting pulled by other bikes. I wonder if the mudlites i have now will work better? i have never even tried them out. they are like new, i scored em from a buddy that owed me some money. maybe i'll get the mx tires and wheels i was gonna get and use the mudlites for muddy stuff...any opinions?
Cochise
My friend had Mud Lites on his Warrior. Talk about a go anywhere tank! Those tires would till up his yard when he turned. And they are surprisingly light.

When I get the RazR2's mounted and ride them I will report back. For $350 they better do everything I want them to do as well as compliment me on how good my hair looks!
KMGLTZ
ithink those are the stock tires on the KFX450 and those are one of the biggest complaints of the KFX
LTZguy
I'll find out
LTZguy
nope, they are not the same tire. look at the close:
Cochise
I really think the mudlites will do what you want them to do LTZGuy. My friend never got stock on his warrior and he was in about 8" of sticky mud with his Warrior.

Plus, whats not to love about saving money?

I own a set already. havent used them yet. I have the razrs too and they suck in the mud. so i was trying to find something else. thats why i was looking at the trac stars.

I have Duro Hook Ups, which are a Maxxis IRazr imitaion, only cheaper. Work pretty well in the mud. Hugely spaced knobs - don't collect mud. Got them at Rocky Mountain.

The Irazrs may be better than the regular razrs, which is what i have. i'll look at the duro hook ups

those are some badass looking tires. not bad on price either. the lugs are spaced far apart like i want too. they look better than the trac stars too. i bet they would look mean with some black wheels.
