I got them a few years back before I could spend the money on a rebuild. Basically they were fine until I went up a few pounds on body weight. After that my shocks had a tendency to bottom out a little too much
If you get them make sure that you are very specific about your weight and ride style and get em on and try em out right away to be sure you like the way thy feel. I'd ask them what their policy on returns if they get it wrong.
Otherwise they seemed just fine.

might be my next purchase..........maybe a xmas present to myself.
I was looking into the website and it said you could get them to lower your ride height by 1". If I did that and put a GT Thunder link on the rear that would even it all out pretty well.....right?

i will definitely find out the return policy first. my problem is that my stock shocks are bottoming out on me now. since my daughter has been born ive gained quite a few pounds. before she was born i only weighed in at about 195-200lbs. now i think im at about 240-250lbs. i know, im a fat ass. i just dont have the free time i used to have.

When I had GGT rebuild my rear shock and add their linkage it lowered my bike close to 3 inches but I don't know how much of that also came from adjusting the pre-load.
Depending on what you weigh, you may want to hit me up as you get closer to deciding on what your going to do for your rear suspension. I am getting an extended swinger soon and will be selling my GTT set up either with or without 05 swinger. The difference from stock is truly amazing...

OK, I'll keep that in mind. What weight is it set-up for?
3"? that's a bunch. I ride sand mostly so the lower the better for me. The main reason I'm even going to start working on the suspension now is to get through the whoops at the bottom of the big hills faster. I can beat alot of guys from a "bottom of the hill" start that I can't beat if we start back and go through the whoops. Of course part of that could be that I'm a 46 year old pussy and I really don't want to get hurt.........

LOL...Yeah, you're preachin' to the choir man. You should feel what its like running 90 minute all out hair scrambles at 50! I often worry about the fact that trees don't move much when ya hit 'em.
Like my other more matured bretheren, I too need all the help I can get from my bike set up to be able to endure gnarly rides. That's why I got the GTT set up for the rear. Like I said, it's liike day and night. I like it low too for track and dune riding. Now that I'm probably going to stroke to a 475 I'm gonna want an extended swinger and thus a new shock which is coming with it.
Mine is currently set up for a 200+ rider. I've riden with it from 205 up to 225 lbs with no problem in the woods, on the track, and at Little Sahara. I had to set the compression a little higher for some of the bigger jumps that had flatter landings though. I'm almost afraid that my new set up won,t be as good. :-)

When do you think that you'll be looking to sell it?

I am talking to someone right now about buying his set up. Hopefully that'll go thru in the next week or two. So soetime here in October I'll probably want to switch everything out. How soon are you wanting to upgrade?

I just bought an FCR (and just found out I'm getting an FCI intake/filter for free!) so it will be a while before I'll be able to get anymore funds released by the boss. I am thinking xmas time. If you sell before then, no worries.
What about just adding a link with the stock shock, how much of a difference will I see with that?

You know...I don't really know what kind of leverage changes there are with a change of linkage. Maybe some of the suspension savy guys will chime in to answer that for you. I don't know if it only lowers or if other changes in handling can be expected. Do you actually like the way your quad handles with the stock shock? Man, I think its terrible even if lowered....at least for me it was, but then I weigh significantly more and ride more aggresively than what the stocker is set up for.... I'd wait till you can affford to do both and get the killer ride out of a more complete upgrade. As they say here...just my .02
Either way it may be a while before mine goes to the F/S forum anyway. I want to create a list of everything I have to get rid of and throw it into one post.
In the meanwhile maybe you could ask your boss for a raise...:-)

Yea your link is the same as the kit I saw. I think it is coming from the Works shop and everything so it should be legit but no refunds or exchanges is kind of discouraging. Like what if they screw up on some of the info we give them, were out of luck? At the very bottom of page it says All items are sold as is - no refunds or returns

Works is a pretty well established outfit. I assume if you installed them and then tried to return them you would be SOL but if they were new and not marked up at all I bet they would work with you.....guess you better be sure when you order.

Yeah but it would kinda defeat the purpose if ya couldn't install them and actually try them though. Even Works can make mistakes. I wouldn't buy anything from a company THAT big, that wouldn't stand behind absolute customer satisfaction. My money is too expensive for things like that.
What do they cost? They're like over 200 bux for both fronts aren't they?

Yea 269.99 for the ltr450 ones, think 229.99 for the z400

If you guys are considering the Works conversion, just get it straight through Works themselves. I run that conversion on my LTR, and couldn't be happier - your mileage may vary, though. The LTR shocks are badass as far as a factory shock goes, except for the spring rate on that stock spring. I'm not telling you guys that the works kit is an end-all for stock LTZ shocks, at all. The kit will only complement the quality of the stock shock, but it does a damn good job of doing that. It's killer on the LTR.
Now, the reason I recommend getting it from Works directly - I beat the chit out of my LTR, and I let others ride it, too, in the dunes. It takes alot of abuse. Well, the middle spring on the right shock broke - just gets beat on and jumped too much, mainly by other people. I called up Works for a replacement spring, and they wanted the spring number off the spec sheet they sent me with the kit, so they could get the correct rate replacement spring. Hehe... Hell, I don't have that sheet anymore, and I told the guy. He looked up all the info and invoices that were three years old, and found my build specs for the kit. He sent the spring out immediately, and didn't charge me a penny for it.
You're not gonna get that kind of support from an eBay seller, or any other retailer, for this kind of stuff. For that reason, I think it's better to get it straight from them. My $0.02...

Agreed.
We got our triple rates through them directly.
That way we have all the info available if something happens.
They are an extra sweet ride on the 450R's too

you make a very good point also. from the look of the ebay ad, it looks like they are coming from Works them selves. i dont know for sure. just looks that way. i know the kit wont be as good as paying $1000 for a set of aftermarket shocks but it would be better for the money from what im reading.

I actually enjoy the ride of our 450R with works springs better than my friends R with Elka's
