Well i just got my carrier bolt replaced and my axle is pulled back as far as it can go and my chain is still to loose. i know it has to have a little slack but its definitely to loose. Even when i ride my girlfriend on the back to is still to loose. I am worried it is gunna pop off or snap. I guess my chain is stretched so im gunna find a new 1 and figure might as well change the sprockets too. What are your thoughts on chain stretching? Also my chain has been replaced about 2 years ago but bike sat for about 6-8 months it is also an o-ring chain.

How much slack do you have? Should be about 1-1/2"
If you replace the chain, do the sprokets at the same time.

yea i was going to do that. but it seems to have wayyy to much slack. It seems about 1.25" when i lift from the bottom of the chain. Also what do u recommend for sprockets? I like the stock setup but i trail ride mostly so i kinda want more acceleration but also i dont wanna give up to much top end speed.

drive chain slack = 1.2" - 1.6"
go with the 13 tooth front sproket...........you'll still go plenty fast enough.

so ur saying it is normal. it really seems to loose but its about 1.25-1.50." thanks for advice

you need a decent amount of slack for the swingarm travel.

take a link or 2 out. you dont want to have your chain pop off and break something. i learned the hard way. you should take out those 4 bolts and make sure they are in evenly and torqued correctly.

when i did that 3 of the 4 bolts were stripped and they were not getting tight enough and they kept coming loose, but i replaced all of them and havent had a problem since. you also might need to get a new chain to since you said its been a while since you replaced it.. if you do decide to get a new chain, be sure to replace front and rear sprockets too. i got an RK chain and sprocket kit for only 115 shipped and the chain has been great.. i have only needed to tighten it once and i have had it for almost 2 months now.

Keep an eye on the bolts depending on what yr your have. The 03 and early 04 with the dual tensionor bolts have different size bolts. My buddy switched them and they weren't long enough and then stripped out those plates on the bottom with the nuts attached. Could have been more costly.

i got an 05 and ever since i snapped a bolt off in the carrier from jumping i had a problem with the chain staying tight. I did replace the bolts but one of them got stripped so i just replaced that and i pulled axle all the way back and still seems a lil to loose but ima try taking a link out first before dishing out money for chain and sprockets. Might go with the 13 tooth front.
