Hi everyone...

I'm new too sport quad and I rode my z400 5-6 times since I bought it...

What is the best gas to use for sport quad and what are you guys using?

In the owner manual they say 87 octane is good so I not know!

87 is probably best if its stock...only time i think you need higher octane is if you get a high compression piston.

i usually use 87 but i have used 91 and 100 as well..no difference i can tell in performance though

I always use 93 octane in my 05 Z. I only have yoshi exhaust, k&n itake and clamp on filter with no air box lid. I know i dont need to run 93 but i just do it anyway becuz its better than 87, it wont hurt it will help if anything. I wouldn't run higher than that tho unless ur higher compression.

The lowest appropriate octane for your motor is what will actually make it run best. Often people will waste money on high octane fuel when it is not called for and they will not experience better performance.

There is a reason why the manual recommends 87.

Yep, mine seems to run just as good if not better with plain old 87 fuel. I will run 91 in it during the summer when it's hot an muggy out....just to keep any detonation from hurting the motor. Not sure if it's necessarily...but it's cheap insurance.

Unless it's going to be over 90 degrees out...I run 87.
