"Four Stroke Performance Tuning," by A. Graham Bell, and the Honda Common Service Manual. Both are very good, and teach you alot about the principles involved, without getting specific about a certain model of motorcycle. Very, very good resources.

For repairs and maintenenace, the Honda Common Service Manual will be better. For performance-based work, the book by Bell will be better. Combined, they're both excellent.
